The good, the bad, and the PITA

The good:

Last night I came home and was greeted with an email from Naturebox.  I’ve been chosen as one of their Ambassadors!!!  I’m really excited about this.  I mean, of course, I’m excited about the fact that I get some free product, but it’s deeper than that.  First, I just love their mission:  healthy snacks and donations to help feed America’s hungry children.  What’s not to love about that?  Second, I’ve had really, really good interactions with the company.  They are just nice people.  Third, they are looking into customizable options.  As the mom of a child with nut allergies, being in on helping to work out those possibilities!  And hopefully, I’ll get to share the Naturbox love with you all a few times a year.  Win for Everyone!!

The Bad:

Last night we discovered that our dishwasher wouldn’t turn on.  I think it’s something electrical, which is (barely) under warranty still.  Unfortunately, that means I have to go through Sears to get a repair person, which around here can take quite a while.  I’m really not looking forward to a week or more of handwashing dishes for four people.  Since I work in water conservation, I’m pretty sure I’d get a lot of crap if I went out and bought paper plates…

The Ugly Pain in the A$$:

Yesterday was a super long day.  I drove to Annapolis for an all day meeting, so I was gone from 7-5.  (I don’t know how people around here do these commutes and work a full day and still have energy left for their families.  I was a tired cranky mommy last night.)  Anyways, after I got home, Shoo was taking a bath and started whining about the water not being hot enough.  This is not usually a problem in our house (it’s usually just below scalding level), so I went and checked on our boiler.  Woohoo.  Some sort of error on the system.  Cold showers for everyone!  Hopefully our service company can get out here quickly, because Pioneer Woman I am not.  Cold showers, boiling water to wash dishes, and washing dishes by hand? Really?

My mantra for today:  At least I get to pee inside…

There’s just something about ‘roughing it’ at your house that is not as nearly fun as ‘roughing it’ when you are camping. We’ve had some serious winter storms over the past few years where we lost power for days. Not fun but you really, really appreciate the little things once the power returns!

Good luck!!

Congratulations!! That’s awesome. I will have to look into Nature Box. I’ve always been hesitant because I have a number of allergies as do my kids so I just assume that certain things are off limits. It’s good to know that they can customize. I hope the hot water and dishwater get fixed soon soon soon!! I think that our household would stop dead in our tracks if that happened over here.

Traffic in the DC/Baltimore/Annapolis are is HORRIBLE! I commute from NW Baltimore to Fort Meade, and it is rough. About 45 minutes in the mornings, and up to 1.5 hours in the evenings, plus a 9 hour day. I’m usually wiped out by the end of the day. At some point, we hope to move closer to work, probably after the economy picks back up.

Huge PITS for you. I hate it when stuff breaks down. We had a run of washing machine problems and it always seemed to take at least 7 days to be able to get a mechanic. I was thinking, when I started reading that washing the dishes by hand wasn’t too bad – but not when you don’t have hot water as well. I hope you get a quick response by the mechanics.
