Stress and frosting do not mix

by MCM Mama on September 4, 2012

I’m a little bit stressed about a few things right now. Nothing huge or life altering, but minor life things that I just have to get through: the first day of school, a re-finance of our house, presenting at a conference, plus just feeling like fitness has fallen off of my priority list.  Like I said, nothing earth shattering, just, well, life.

At 6 o’clock last night, I realized I’d forgotten to make muffins for the parent coffee at the boys’ school.  I’d actually signed up on the online volunteer system, so I couldn’t blow it off.  This led to a mad internet search for a recipe I could make with what I had in the house (note to self: always keep ingredients for cinnamon applesauce bread in house. They are all shelf stable, so no excuses).  Anyways, I managed to make a bundt cake with a vanilla cake mix, bananas, eggs, coconut oil, and chocolate chips.  Yeah, not the healthiest.  Then I made a “glaze” of butter, powdered sugar, and vanilla.

Next thing I knew, I was eating pretzels dipped in the leftover glaze.  Oops.  Sweet and salty is my go to when it comes to stress eating.  Seriously, I spent most of last fall shoveling pretzels and frosting in my face every.single.night.

I’m not going there again.  I’m going running instead.

I hope you catch up with life so that the stress levels can come down again. Sounds like a great ultra marathon snack that.

I understand; I’ve had a lot of the same small stressors. We too are re-financing, and it’s offical: I hate banks. Good luck balancing it all and running it all out!

OH beeeeeen there!! It’s hard because there is so much junk in our house that david eats in front of me all night and on days where I’m feeling overwhelmed it suddenly seems to be in my mouth!

We are doing a re-finance too. Much more stressful than it should be, right!? Glad you are catching yourself in a bad habit, but once in a while won’t hurt at all!

…and you still baked something from scratch? Win. I would have been picking up treats at the grocery store. Good for you.

Oh man frosting. I always look for the piece of corner cake that has the most. I can’t be near it either.

Frosting is often the bane of my existence. A little bit here, a little bit there and all of a sudden I’m in a sugar coma. I’ve taken to feeding the dog the left-overs (not the healthiest dog food but better to shorten his life than mine). He loves it so much that he does excited circles in the kitchen whenever I pull out the piping bag.

Oh yeah, I know that feeling. My go to is salty and usually it’s popcorn, cheez-its, or something crunchy and salty with a dip on the side. I hope you get a good long run in and burn off those worries!

Ha ha that sounds like something I have done before – makes you not want to skip your workout the next day though right ?Great motivation to keep going in my opinion. Brownies are my downfall!
