2012 in pictures

by MCM Mama on December 31, 2012

I have to admit, this is my absolute favorite post to write each year. To write it, I go back and look at the last year on my blog.  It’s so fun to see the big things and little things that make up each year.

So, here’s a recap for you.

January

2012-0121a

Although the Badgers let me down, I found the most important factor in my fitness success, I learned how to sneak up on a long run, and I PR’d a 1k Beer Walk.

February

Worst Race Picture Ever Worst Race Picture Ever

February started with a new home on the web here at MCM Mama Runs, I ran 10 miles in Vibram Five Fingers, I ran for Sherry, and I left it all on the course at the coldest race I’ve ever run

March

I raced in State #18, I fell in love with a skirt,  and I ran like a mother.

April

I met up with some cool chiks and I ran the hardest race I’ve ever run,

May

I started the month with an injury to my foot,  met up with some more awesome running bloggers, and joined Foodie PenPals.

June

Savor2012

I attended Savor (a favorite beer event), ran around like a crazy woman trying to get ready for Cub Scout camp, and survived the infamous Derecho.

July

I went on an awesome vacation with my family, raced State #19 and State #20, decided that running 5 half marathons in 5 days was a good idea, and hit 16 brewpubs in 15 days (no, the crazy idea was not a result of a beer.  Blame that idea on Kim.)

August

Watermelon_Stampede

I came up with the beginnings of a training plan for 5 in 5, attended Great Taste of the Midwest, and raced State #21.

September

I sat too much, Jones’ got Epic the gecko (AKA the gecko that has taken over my life) and I ran the Clarendon Day 5k.

October

chincoteague

I started training again, we celebrated both boys’ birthdays, and we visited Chincoteague the weekend before Sandy hit the east coast.

November

IMG_7166

I volunteered with Girls on the Run, the boys beat a Chihauhua at the Turkey Trot 5k, and I started my mileage build for the 5 in 5.

December

snow

I ran a lot of miles this month, I joined a group planning to run 13 races in 2013, and I enjoyed a long vacation in Wisconsin where the boys got to play in the snow and I got to run with my dad.

If I had to sum up 2013 in one word, I’d have to choose FUN.  There were some negatives, but overall, it was an awesome year for our family and it’s ending on a high note for me as far as running goes.  I can only hope that 2013 is as good of a year. And I need to remember to take more pictures.

You’ve had a fabulous year! I hope 2013 is just as Epic (no pun intended – well, maybe just a little intended) as 2012.

We hosted a virtual Run for Sherry also in February 2012. We live only about 2.5-3 hours from the town she was from. Needless to say, it hit all of us hard too and we followed the story very closely. It was a very cold day here in our small community, but we had about 20 or so walkers/runners show up to show their love and support. We also remembered the lives of those tragically taken and honored them this day too. It would be great if they would do it yearly. Have you heard anything?
