Not fun, but done

by MCM Mama on January 29, 2013

Sunday night the weather guys were calling for icy rain for the Monday morning rush hour.  The federal government offered a two hour delayed arrival.  District of Columbia schools called for a delayed opening.  But when I went to bed at midnight, our school system still hadn’t made their call.  I assumed I’d wake up to a delayed opening.

When I rolled over at 5am and checked my email, I got quite the surprise.  Not the delayed opening I expected, but rather schools were closed.  (I know they try to make the best decision with the information they have available, but let’s just say this isn’t the first time schools have been closed when there was no apparent reason why.  Anyways….)

When I rolled out of bed a couple of hours later, I was faced with a choice: find someone to watch Shoo or hit the treadmill.  My little darlings slept until 9:30, so I ended up choosing the treadmill.

1 hour and 47 minutes of Sweat Equity and Raising House on the DIY Network later and I’d completed 10.5 miles.

10.5 miles at a 10:14 pace. In socks. And my foot did not hurt.

4 runs and 39.5 miles left to go this week.

Doing that on a treadmill takes lots and lots of dedication, well done! My son always pray for a snow day even just once but we don’t get that here in SA. I said I’ll give him a heavy rains day if he does well at school this year :)

10.5 on the treadmill?! I am impressed. I struggle to stay on it for a mile!

much respect from me – i cannot stand running on a treadmill and can barely last 3 miles on the rare occasion that I do…

Way to go! That’s true dedication to yourself, and you are to be commended for that!

May the rest of the runs go as peacefully and smoothly as possible, and may all body parts work in harmony!

(I was just thinking a moment ago, if we were back in VA right now, we’d be out of school for a week the snow that has fallen since Sunday. Yet, the kids were still walking with backpacks in the falling powder this morning.)

That’s a really good solid run. Made even better by no foot pain.

WooHoo – way to go!
Funny, I’m trying to force myself into more outdoor running after years of sticking to the treadmill!
