It’s too hot for a February Runfession

It’s too hot for a February Runfession

I think that Mother Nature is suffering from hot flashes this winter. I'm used to a few random "I can wear a skirt and maybe a tank top" days, but it seems like we've had more than normal. And even when it's "cold", it's late fall cold, not winter cold. We haven't even had a real snow yet. (Watch, now March is going to be a mess.) Because the weather has been so iffy, I runfess that I shifted my runs around and made a rookie mistake. I moved my long run to Wednesday to avoid the rain on Thursday and Friday. I was supposed to do 10 miles, but completely crashed and burned at 6.5. Why? Because it was 80*. Homey don't play dat in February. Hell, Homey don't play dat in June! Because that run sucked so much, I runfess that I have … [Read more...]

First world problems

First world problems

This has not been what I would call a normal week, but then again, I'm not sure exactly what a normal week is anymore... Jones came home sick on Monday with a wicked earache. The phone call came during my run, so I ended up running a little over 7 miles outside and then finished 3 more on the treadmill after I picked him up and got him settled at home. Tuesday I went on a desperate search for pants for his concert. Note to self: have him try on his concert pants more than 2 days before a concert.  Kids CAN change sizes even if it's only been a month since the last concert.  Lesson learned. The Target cashier forgot to put one of my bags in my cart.  It was the bag with the bread I needed for the next day's lunches, so I had to … [Read more...]

The good, the bad, and the PITA

The good, the bad, and the PITA

The good: Last night I came home and was greeted with an email from Naturebox.  I've been chosen as one of their Ambassadors!!!  I'm really excited about this.  I mean, of course, I'm excited about the fact that I get some free product, but it's deeper than that.  First, I just love their mission:  healthy snacks and donations to help feed America's hungry children.  What's not to love about that?  Second, I've had really, really good interactions with the company.  They are just nice people.  Third, they are looking into customizable options.  As the mom of a child with nut allergies, being in on helping to work out those possibilities!  And hopefully, I'll get to share the Naturbox love with you all a few times a year.  Win for … [Read more...]

Rough week

September 11, 2009 by MCM Mama 12 Comments

Jones is still having a hard time with the start of school and both boys have decided to respond to the stress by not sleeping. I have issues with insomnia on a good night, so being woken up several times a night and not being able to fall back to sleep is leading to one tired mommy. So, I'm physically exhausted from not sleeping and emotionally and mentally exhausted from trying to help ease Jones' transition. So, no TIART today. No giveaway winner today. Heck, not even any running today. I just wasn't feeling the love, plus I've tweaked a muscle in my shoulder/back and it hurts to breathe too deeply/lift my arm/sleep. I'm stretching and icing and it's improving, but I decided that with everything else going on, I need to just give … [Read more...]

At the beginning of the year, I set up one big scary goal: Take each day as it comes. Roll with the punches and keep on moving forward with a smile on my face. I’ve struggled with accepting that. The planner in me wanted everything on paper (yes, I still use a bullet journal – […]
