1. I’m finally feeling normal. I took naps three days in a row this week, which is pretty much unheard of for me. But they weren’t optional. My body pretty much said “Sleep. Now.” So I did. Yesterday I finally went out in my Kinvara 4’s and ran a fast for me 4 miles. I did it as speed intervals and ended up doing 4 miles in under 40 minutes. Woot!
2. This weekend I’m racing again. I have a 5k on Saturday night and a half marathon on Sunday morning. I can’t decide how fast I can go in the 5k and still have a decent half on Sunday. Is it bad that the only reason I want to race (as opposed to run) the 5k is to make sure I run it faster than my boss? Pretty sure that won’t get me a raise…
3. And, just for fun, I’m joining in the Pin It Party over at Lean Green Bean. Gives me an excuse to hang out on Pinterest instead of writing the Employee Handbook that I’m working on. (Oops, did I say that out loud?)
Here are some of my favorites!
Beer Dinner – Every year we host a beer and food pairing dinner for the lucky winners in the school auction. Want to host your own? Feel free to steal my menu!
Quiche – This is one of my favorite recipes. I eat Paleoish with dairy, so this is my go to breakfast. (Except race day. I always eat a peanut butter and jelly sandwich on race day. It works, so I’m not messing with it.)
Homemade Rice Krispy Treats – I love marshmallows! I could eat an entire bag in one sitting. I know, gross. Even grosser is the list of ingredients. So, I learned how to make my own!
Tips for getting back in the exercise habit – We all have times when we fall out of the exercise habit. Here are the tips I gave a close friend on how to find your way back.
And finally, How I survived 5 Half Marathons in 5 days – This was the first time this kind of event was offered, but it won’t be the last. Here are my top tips for getting through while having fun and not getting injured!
Stay tuned for tomorrow’s inside glimpse from the Nike Women Half Marathon!
Those are definitely pin-worthy posts!
Making homemade marshmallows is on my list of things to do this month! Definitely going to have to try out your recipe!
I’m so happy to see another person openly identifying postpartum depression as a real and serious health problem that can be talked about openly! It is such a struggle to get people to accept depression (even the postpartum type) as a REAL issue that needs attention. I am also a BIG fan of cardio as a treatment of depression. Great blog. Great Cause. Keep it up.
Two races in two days – that’s tricky. I’ve got a LSD run next Saturday followed by a race Sunday and I’m not sure how to play it. Do I cut the LSD down from 20k? Or do I do the 32 and hope that I can back up the next day? There’s no right answer.
Dang – I want to read every one of these pin/posts and then I saw another post about your Saucony Virrata which I’ve been thinking about buying. So let’s just say I’ll be hanging out around your blog for a bit 🙂
