Two down, one to go. Beer Geek took the day off, so I ran my second 20 mile run this morning. It took me 3:39:01, which averages to 10:57 per mile, even without subtracting my 7 minute bathroom stop. I even ran almost the entire thing. Oh, yeah, I rock LOL.
I seem to have figured out the shoe issue and the outfit I wore caused no chafing, so I think I’ve got my marathon plan. In fact, other than my continuously bruised toe, I had only one area that was anything other than muscle soreness. And that issue is likely mostly related to my *ahem* rather uncomfortable bathroom stop.
The running store took back my shoes, thankfully. In fact, the guy said that particular version of the Nimbus is particularly poorly designed for the issue I have. Apparently the new model will fix it. He also told me that your feet swell initially and then swell again around 15-18 miles, which would explain why my otherwise comfortable Mizunos start sucking towards the end of my long runs. Yet another reason to return to the half marathon once this darned run is done.
Yesterday, I did some serious carb loading (if I wasn’t preparing for a marathon, I’d probably call it binging LOL). I generally avoid sugary carbs until late in the day and then allow myself a treat after dinner. Once I start eating sugar, I want MORE MORE MORE. Since the morning was started with donut holes from Krispy Kreme while hanging out with my mommy friends, the rest of the day was pretty much all about the white carbs. Pizza, chocolate chip cookies, and marshmallows were all on the menu, just to mention a few things.
But, hey, the run is done and now I can be all about drinking tomorrow (well, as much about drinking as one can be while being responsible for two little people.) If you know where I live, you’re welcome to join us. It’ll be the house with the big Shrek bounce house out front and the three yummy kegs in the back.
