1. I’ve been calling myself a stay at home mom for about 7 years now. But, it occurred to me the other day that I’ve become more of a work at home mom over the last year. I’m currently juggling two occupations and hope to add a third on Friday. I am basically the operations manager for a friend’s company. He’s been getting more work than he can handle on his own, so I’m taking over making sure that some of the work gets done by his contractors. I’ve had to learn a bunch of new software systems and create whole new processes. I love it and it uses my brain in ways it hasn’t been used in a while. I’m also coaching two women to fall marathons, complete with occasional accompanied runs. On Friday, I’m meeting about taking on the role of organizing a new race in the DC area. (You’ll be hearing a ton about this if it works out.)
And yet, moms at Jones’ school keep predicting I’ll be bored next year when Shoo starts Kindergarten. Really? I was thinking I might actually have time to breathe. Or finish painting the basement walls that are currently a mess of different trial colors.
2. In the last week and a half, both boys and Beer Geek have had various stomach issues. Shoo’s was definitely a virus and he’s bounce back and Beer Geek didn’t feel too bad. Jones, on the other hand, can’t seem to kick the stomach pain and keeps coming up with new symptoms. He had a strep test the other day (negative) plus a bunch of blood taken for a number of tests. I really hope we can find some answers soon. As a bonus, my elderly cat continues to not use his litter box. We’ve tried setting up a new box (which he used once and then reverted back to using the carpet) and we are waiting on blood and urine test results. Quite frankly though, I’m not happy with the fact that he’s treating my finished basement as one giant litter box.
3. Thankfully, there is some fun in my future. Savor is coming up!! Those of you who’ve been around for a while know how much I love this event. If you are new here, you can see pictures of the fun from last year here. Once again we scored tickets to a pre-Savor salon. This year it’s with Lazy Magnolia brewery, which we got to tour one year when we visited Beer Geek’s mom. We’ve also got tickets to the Lupulin Reunulin, where I’ll start my annual stalking of the Beer Gods brewers. And the best part of all this is that my parents are coming for a long weekend to kid watch and spend time with us. I love it when they visit (really, the only thing I’d change about my life is to live closer to my parents…)
So, what’s happenin’ in your world? I’m currently listening to the sounds of windows being broken out of my basement bedroom. Judging by the mess, it’s actually a good thing I never found time to paint…
Oh, and don’t forget to vote. I’ve been doing my best to keep all my favorite blogs in the top 25. Can you help a girl out and keep me there too?
