Every August for the last 7 years, Beer Geek and I have had the opportunity to enjoy the Great Taste of the Midwest. This beer festival is hands down one of the top beer festivals in the country. (I’d say THE best, but I haven’t been to every festival out there. Yet.)
Before picking up Beer Geek from the airport on Friday, I got in a slow, easy 4 mile run. It hasn’t been as hot in Wisconsin as the crazy heat in Virginia, but the humidity was all kinds of gross. I’ve been struggling with some achilles issues, so I was happy that it didn’t bother me much.
Once I picked him up at the airport, we headed to Madison. I love Madison. It tops my list of places besides DC that I’d love to live. Ah, well, someday. We started out our fun weekend with a beer at the Great Dane Brewpub.
Then it was off to Cento for dinner. Through the pouring rain. I was so glad to be wearing Skirt Sports because I actually dried by the time dinner was over. (I’m not sad that no one took pictures from dinner LOL)
Next up was a party at the Children’s Museum. Know what happens when you combine beer and kids’ activities? A walk in the hamster wheel…
Saturday morning dawned gray and humid. We met up with a friend of mine and her husband for a short run together. For the three of them, it was a nice conversational run. For me, it was a tempo run. Yeah, I’m kind of slow (and I have a really hard time breathing when it’s humid.)
I was glad we had some time after the run to chill out in our hotel room. I was also happy to try out a new product that was sent to me in the Must Have Box that POPSUGAR sent me to try. It’s a cream to help protect your hair from the damage that sun causes. With as much time as I’m spending outside, this is a great product to try. #MustHaveBox
Then it was festival time!
As per usual, it was a super fun time! Amazing beers on a beautiful day in a gorgeous location!
Bacon on a stick!
Beer Olympics!
Once the fun was over, we headed back to the hotel for a dip in the pool, some snacks with friends, and an early turn in. Yeah, gone are the days when we partied after the party LOL.
Beer Geek has gone home, but the boys and I will be here for another week. I will run two more half marathons (Wisconsin and Minnesota) next weekend and then I’ll be done with 23 half marathons in 23 states in 365 days! I’m can’t wait to reach Mercury, but I’m even more excited to be done with this endeavor.
Today I’m linking up with HoHo and Tricia for Weekly Wrap. Stop by the link up and see what everyone else is up to…
And don’t forget to join us on Tuesday for Tuesdays on the Run! We’re talking about race photobombs! Have you done one or been on the receiving end? Show us!
Sounds like a fun wkend. Goodluck in your races next wk. I have never seen bacon on a stick. I bet that was delicious!
That’s funny that you say you’d like to live in Madison. I just got done reading Fast Girl and she lived there and hated it. Maybe that’s another reason she made all those trips to Vegas….haha.
I LOVE ME SOME MADISON AS WELL.
in the summer.
I was thisclose to university of wisconsin madison until I realized how wimpy I was
<3
Looks like you are having a great vacation!
I can’t breathe in the humidity either. I’m ready for it to go away. That hamster wheel looks fun, actually, as well as the beer festival. You are *this* close to Mercury! Good luck next weekend with the last two states! Thanks for linking, Erika!
Ha I think I’d love to try the hamster wheel! May not be a good idea after drinking or not?? lol Only two more for you, wow what an awesome accomplishment this past year! Do you already have your eye on your next prize??
