- Towards the middle of the week, I was so tired ofΒ the whole Snowzilla thing, that I went outside and shoveled snow that didn’t have to be moved. I figured it was better than sitting inside being mad that my street hadn’t been plowed.
- Speaking of not being plowed, by Tuesday I could have gotten out if I’d really wanted to, even though we had not been plowed. Plenty of big 4wd SUVs had gotten out and we live only our yard’s length from a main road. I just didn’t have any place I needed to be.
- On Sunday evening when Beer Geek wanted to walk out for dinner, I realized I hadn’t showered since either Thursday night or Friday morning. It’s probably not a good sign when you can’t remember your last shower.
- When I went for a run on Wednesday, I could have done my whole run on bare pavement – I might have had to repeat the route a time or two to get in 3 miles, but I could have done it. Instead I ran on a bunch of unplowed roads so I could feel badass about my running.
- I slept in every morning, drank too much coffee, wore my pajamas for large parts of the day, and the only workouts I did were shoveling and two short runs. I have never been so ready for the return to routine in my life. And my kids don’t go back to school until Tuesday.
I’m linking up with the lovely ladies of the DC Trifecta (Courtney, Mar, and Cynthia) for the Friday Five and Marcia for Runfessions.
Wow. Your kids have had a LONG break!! π The end is near π
Haha, way to run on the unplowed roads and feel badass! π Oh, I’m jealous you slept in every morning!
Wow, I think I would have wanted to hurt someone if my streets hadn’t been plowed for so long. You cracked me up about your bada** running in the snow. Hopefully no more snow for a while.
When we got alot of snow this past wkend. I stayed in all day myself and drank coffee in my pj’s too. I finally got around and did a few miles on the treadmill, after baking a batch of homemadecookies of course:)
This blizzard definitely brought up the best (or worst?) in everybody’s cabin fever. While I showered everyday while snowed in, there were plenty of days that after showering I just put pajamas back on.
So lucky to have NO snow.
But the winter is not over yet.
haha – at least you’re honest!! I’m lucky I was plowed by Tuesday and the snow started to melt. I used a long strip of cleared sidewalk to get a couple shirt runs in just going up and down until I hit my miles. Hope you get back to your routine soon!
I think it’s totally fine that you wanted to run on snow so you could feel badass!! You are badass and I bet those runs felt really good. Telling ourselves we’re badass, and doing badass things, will only help keep you motivated to do more badass things!! And I get the “can’t remember when I last showered” thing. Happens to me pretty regularly, which isn’t really a good thing now that I’m admitting that. But it happens.
I’m glad you just went out there and began the shoveling process. π It seems that sometimes it’s harder for city snowplows to plow because there are so many neighborhoods to plow after a snowstorm. And I LOVE wearing my pajamas for a day if nothing big is happening. π
Yea kind of over it myself right now. Heading to IN to visit my daughter today and I am excited to run there. See you next week
Until Tuesday? Wow! And I am with you on the showering thing. With double workouts on many days there’s a very high bar for what requires a shower. Body wipes and deodorant are a good thing. It’s my oily hair that will finally get me to cave in, lol!
I think I would’ve run on snow too just because. When my cabin fever hits a certain point, I don’t care and just want to get outside.
You are brave to run on unplowed roads! I am so afraid of slipping. I finally found a loop in my neighborhood that is clear and only has two icy spots where I need to be careful. I was getting so sick of the treadmill and at this point I’d rather run in circles outside than drive to the gym!
You had me laughing so hard about not being sure when you took your last shower… mainly because I was in the same boat! I skipped my strength training on Monday after spending over two hours shoveling snow that was up past my knees – we ended up with 34 inches.
We are still getting dug out here. Our neighborhood has just one lane open to the parkway which was really dangerous. I just came in from running errands and was happy to see a huge tractor and loader moving snow to open the other lane.
You guys really had it rough from Jonas, I couldn’t believe you guys were still snowed in! Sleeping in is nice once in awhile but I always feel guilty about it, including today! I’m so glad the snow is almost melted away in Philly, though I do kind of wish I got a good run in some deeper snow!
Wait so your kids were off ALL week and won’t go back until NEXT Tuesday? Do they have to make that up?
I cannot believe your kids have missed so much school. That would never happen here in Chi-town. I’m sure your kids are thrilled.
Dang girl, it does sound like your ready for things to get back to normal. I hope you can enjoy this weekend. Maybe something fun will happen! π
Running outdoors in this kind of winter mess is badass whether you’re on pavement or not! And, let’s be real, showers are overrated…
I love that you wanted to run on the snow to feel badass! I try with all my might to avoid running routes with snow, I live in Minnesota so this time of year it is really hard. Running on fresh now is a great workout though, great for the glutes!
I like the idea of a confession post! I feel like I need to do one myself.
haha @ #4! I would have done the same.
Uuugh this snow is for the birds!!
I may have been in my pj’s the entire week! I did shower after my workout (thankfully!)
I got out yesterday and had never been so happy to go to work! Lol!
I do not envy the amount of snow you got…we got 4-6″ here is KS and it is al me red already (the multiple days in the 50s this past week surely helped). We are expecting a decent amount of snow this coming week… Is it Spring yet?
I love how running in snow or big puddles immediately ups a run’s level of bad-assitude! Hope you’re not going to stir crazy and that your street’s finally been plowed!
Haha, going several days without a shower is commonplace over here…shhh don’t tell anyone π
