Rest day. The day we all love to hate.
1. Free time to eat all the things that the rungries have made you crave
2. Clothes other than running… nah, that’s not gonna happen.
3. Extra time to surf the internet and buy more running clothes
4.Β That feeling that you are sure you are losing fitness by the minute
5. A chance to get in touch with the moody side of you that your running keeps at bay
My body enjoyed my rest day yesterday, but I’m not excited that means I have to run the next 3 days in the wicked cold. Oh well…

Linking up with my buds Cynthia, Mar, and Courtney for Friday Five! Happy long weekend to those who get Monday off!
it is going to be so super cold and windy. boo to that. i may have a chance to run on a treadmill saturday and i think i’ll take it! π
Haha to #3! Take care and stay warm.
Lol, number 4 and the pic is funny! Great list!
Haha yes to number 1! I run to eat π
Glad you enjoyed your rest day. That pic of the kid is adorably funny!
(whispers) there’d be NO NO NO HATE HERE π
Great post and yes, I can be caught surfing the net far too often for new running gear I clearly don’t need. It’s going to be cold here this weekend too and I am not looking forward to my long run
I love rest day because I get more time to visit my blogging friends in the morning before work – ha! π Hope you have a wonderful weekend, Erika; I’m also definitely in favor of buying more running clothes.
Haha, so true. My rest days I end up spending money…more reasons to NOT have rest days π
Rests day aren’t so bad, it’s the tapering. I’m trying to enjoy winding down but then I have a ton of thoughts about the race and packing, logistics, the course, what I’m going to wear, sometimes nightmares. A regular rest day is so much better than tapering.
Ha ha! All of these are SO true for me–especially the running clothes! I always miss running on my rest day, but it does give me free time to do yoga, which always seems hard to fit in, so there’s that at least!
I completely embrace my rest days and honestly don’t understand how people don’t! It’s so great to get both the physical AND mental break!
I love #5. I have to run the crazies out for anyone to be able to tolerate me. Ha. Of course, surfing the net for more running clothes is a must as well. Happy Valentine’s Day.
I usually enjoy rest days, but sometimes I get that lost feeling, like what am I supposed to do with myself now?
HaHaHa! I love #3! π
Have a great weekend, and don’t get too cold on your runs! I have a 10K tomorrow, but fortunately we will be able to stay in the high school until the race starts.
I’ve had 5 rest days now in a row due to being ill and I hate it. I need to run the crazies off!! Hopefully by tomorrow I’ll be better and can run my long run.
I love this post! You’re right, rest day is the day we love to hate.
My training intensity has really picked up so I am all about my rest days! I need those breathers once in awhile!
Love # 4!!! Picture is perfect:)
Yes to #1. More time to eat, because I know that soon enough I’ll be burning it all off!
I HATE rest days. They make me a lot crazy… I do usually end up cleaning a lot though! So that’s good!
I love my running days but I love the rest ones too. I especially love not setting my alarm and thinking that I’ll sleep in the next day. Never happens but it’s nice to think that it could.
I promised my trainer I would take 1 rest day a week but I get so antsy and try to sneak in yoga and abs and stuff π
Sometimes I actually like rest days. It just depends on where I’m at in my training cycle.
I enjoy my rest days, but they dont happen that often, so I guess that would be why. I really enjoy my 2 weeks totally off after season, but the random ones scattered throughout seem to go by so fast. Isn’t it funny how you are often more hungry on those days though! Silly bodies π
I love my rest days but #3 allllll the way!
Do you know what is great about rest day? Beer the night before!
