Poor little Shoo was still feeling not so hot this morning. I managed to get some sugary liquids into him and he perked up some, but he decided he wanted a nap (he gave up naps almost a year ago). After he fell asleep, I decided to hit the treadmill. I wasn’t expecting much in the way of a run, so I ran fairly fast for the first few miles. I ended up managing 7 miles before he woke up! And the best part was he woke up and asked for food. Woohoo! Unfortunately, since I hadn’t planned to run for that long, I was wearing single layer cotton socks, so I rubbed a nice blister on my toe.
When Beer Geek got home, I jumped on the ‘mill again and did a 3.5 mile interval workout. I had only planned 3 miles, but since I was running fast, I managed to squeeze an extra half into my work out. I’ve never run twice in the same day before, so I was quite surprised that I actually felt great for the second run.
After dinner tonight, we headed to the local Mardi Gras parade. Beer Geek has family in Mississippi and Louisiana, so we’ve been to Mardi Gras in New Orleans, as well as to some of the smaller (but still huge by comparison) local parades. This parade? Great, but not large by any means. Prior to Shoo getting sick, we had planned on dinner at one of the many restaurants on the (6 block) parade route, but had to scrap that plan. So, Mardi Gras was a completely beerless event this year for us. Oh well, we’ll make up for it this weekend when we hit three breweries/brewpubs. And only in a place like here would a Mardi Gras parade include a local Indian restaurant and a Bolivian dance group. LOL
Glad Shoo is feeling a bit better, and great job on today’s two run! Mardi Gras parade sounds fun, even if beerless…
That’s a lot of treadmill running – awesome job. I love running twice in the same day, and do it a lot in the summer. Great way to bookend the day!
I am always impressed by people who do more than 3 or 4 miles on a mill…impressive!
I’ve thought about running twice in one day. Not sure my body is up for that yet though.
Two runs in one day is excellent. Especially when the distance for both went beyond planned! Hope Shoo is feeling better yet and you can more than make up for missing your Mardi Gras beers this weekend.
I bet you’re expecting me to give you a virtual tongue-lashing for going beerless on Mardi Gras. But a sick young ‘un is one of the few excuses I accept. You got lucky. THIS time.Plus, I remember someone else noting (probably not here, but elsewhere) that Melanie sure is getting to be first commenter on various blogs a lot lately. Do they have some kind of extra-fast Intertubes up there in Canada? That seems unlikely because their “culture” hasn’t even discovered velcro, TV Dinners or long division yet.Something is up with that, though.
I’m glad the kiddo is feeling better. YAY on 2 runs in one day. That’s something I have yet to try LOL
That’s a lot of treadmil running! I ran a 3 miler on the treadmill while we were on vacation and that seemed like the longest 30 minutes of my life!
Atta girl. Way to work in that beer one way or another. :o)
twice in one day? wow, you rock woman. Glad the little guy is feeling better.
Two dreadmill runs in one day!?!? Now you’re more woman than me!
Thing Two napped like a maniac throughout her sickness. Great job on the two’fer!
