As I expected, I am ROCKING the taper. See, unlike “real” marathon runners, I love the cut back in running. Oh, wait, I haven’t actually cut back yet…
- I ran my 20 on Tuesday. On Wednesday, the only part of my body that hurt was one of my toes. So, I figured I should try running. 4.1 miles in 40:17. My legs felt like I’d run the day before, but not like I’d run 20 miles. Woot. Well, if that felt good, obviously I should run today. 4.6 miles in 43:07. My legs did a little bit of “nuh uh, we do NOT run three days in a row”, but got over it and it was a pretty darn good run. That was certainly a surprise.
- You know you are a mom when you eke out as much distance as you can by running up and down your street for the three minutes you have left before you need to leave for preschool pickup. You know you are a runner when you walk into preschool, quite literally dripping sweat, and everyone asks if you spent the entire preschool time running AGAIN LOL.
- I’m doing well on the 3 changes for the most part, although one sort of led to messing up the other last night. I did great on water consumption yesterday, as well as on not snacking in the afternoon. However, I went out with the preschool moms last night and two glasses of red wine led to a bit of snacking when I got home. (And what is up with an upscale restaurant having their best beers be Yuengling, Stella, and Blue Moon? C’mon, at least throw me a Guinness…)
Happy Earth Day. I thought about not showering to save water, but after the run, I was afraid I could clear a room LOL. Oh, and my GU giveaway is now closed. I’ll announce the winners this weekend.
I don't think anyone in my kid's preschool knows what I look like without a running skirt and knee highs! And they definitely don't know what I look like showered!
Comment on #2: My daughter's preshcool teacher is one of my running buddies. She gets very jealous when I come in dripping wet after a good run : )
I think its awesome that you run when the kiddos are in school!
Good to know that I am not the only mom at preschool pick-up all sweaty. My son goes 2 mornings a week and I always use that time to run or go to the gym.
Sounds like someone needs to look up the definition of taper π Another great week!
A 20 and two runs after that? Yeah, that does not sound like taper to me. :)I pick Sophie up from her little preschool just drenched with sweat – I go from dressed up suit in the morning to pure nasty in the afternoon!
ha! your a rockstar! Pre-school peeps just get used to it I think, they will ask me whats wrong when I don't show up sweaty and in recovery socks!
Who knows, maybe one of those pre-school mommas are going to see you all sweaty one day and go for a run herself. Can't wait to totally dominate the taper. Not running at all for 3 weeks would make us totally faster, right?
Wow- I can't believe you're already in taper mode….it's coming up quick! Enjoy!
I love taper weeks! Wish I had more of them! I have to pick up my oldest after my long runs and I know people are wondering what's going. I would like to wear a sign saying "I ran __ miles"…that wouldn't be wierd…would it?
Great job!!I wish I could p/u my little guy sweaty. If I do, he runs to me to give me a hug, steps back, and says "Mama, you're messy."
Yay for tapering!! Enjoy!
I think it's awesome that you fit in your running creatively – hence arriving sweaty to preschool. Continue to rock the taper!
I think we need an all running-mom preschool. Now wouldn't that be a gas?
Okay this week let's try actually tapering π Nice job on fitting in the runs! I hope one day I'm that kind of mom at pre-school π
Running two days straight after the 20? Impressive! Now enjoy the taper (that means RESTING). hehehe
You have some big time drive!! Nice runs…you could really start to taper now:) You are ready for this marathon!LOL on the a least throw me a Guinness:) Happy Friday!
Great example you are setting for the kids and the other Moms and Dads. Congrats! RunningLaur is correct. Keep inspiring – sweaty or not.
I always appreciated taper time. Dunno why it gets such a bad rap – it's my FAVORITE time of any training cycle π
Great list! Love the "ya know you're a runner….:
hey there!Go marathon tapers!and w/ the 'ugly' part of your comment on mine: I got my friendly visitor the night b4 my first OD triathlon..and it worked out fine (i think it did at least);-).
Uh huh, "taper". :o)
