As I’ve mentioned a couple of times, I recently did a 21 day reset to try and get my eating back on track. I will review that process in a few days, but while I was doing that reset, Urban Remedy gave me a free trial of their Metabolism Kit. So, this week’s What I ate Wednesday is a little different than last week’s beer dinner LOL.
When they first approached me, I thought they only did juice cleanses and I said no. While I enjoyed some parts of my last cleanse, I had no desire to avoid food entirely. Life is just too busy for me to be tired and cranky. Then they suggested I try one of their wellness kits that are a mix of juices and healthy foods. THAT I could get behind.
Before I talk about their product, here are a few things you should know:
- I did not give up caffeine and had a cup of coffee with almond milk each day (I was still recovering from Ragnar and needed to be able to function LOL)
- I ate a banana each night in addition to their “kit”
- They use stevia in a lot of their products. I generally try not to make that a regular part of my diet and would have preferred they used something like fruit juice.
Anyways, I chose to do the metabolism kit at their suggestion. I think I would have also enjoyed the beauty kit. I purposely scheduled it for a time when I was SUPER busy. One day we had a dentist appointment, a cello lesson, soccer practice, and elementary back to school night. The next we had two soccer practices and middle school back to school night. I figured having packaged food would help keep me from surviving those two days on bananas, almonds, and whatever other handy food I could find. (Turns out I was right.)
For the most part, this was a very positive experience. They had the kit delivered to my house, I found the juices palatable and I didn’t feel hungry until late evening. Since I was on the go for 18 hours a day each day, I decided that a little extra food was a good idea. I probably should have had a food on their approved list, but the banana was easiest.
Each day I ate the following:
What I liked:
- The combination of juices and foods
- The second juice had a really nice kick to it
- The Zen Salad was AMAZING. Seriously, I keep thinking I should buy a few each week for lunch. So.very.good. (And portable, I ate the second one at soccer practice LOL)
- The herbal tea was tasty (and I’m not a tea lover)
- I lost 4 pounds
- I had plenty of energy
What I didn’t like:
- The final juice of the day – I just didn’t like it much and hated ending my day with it
- The Diet Spike stuff was AWFUL. Like barely able to choke it down awful
- Stevia in every juice
- I felt like there should have been one more snack (but that may have been because my days were just that long that week)
Would I do it again?
Yes, but I probably wouldn’t drink the Diet Spike stuff. I really liked the flavors of the juices and the foods and it was nice to have healthy, tasty food that I didn’t have to prepare. I am actually considering buying some more Zen Salads and a couple of their meal replacement shakes to help me with keeping dairy out of my diet for a while longer (more on that later).
Have you ever done a juice cleanse or a prescribed 3 day diet change? I’ve discovered I really like it when someone else tells me what to eat and I don’t have to think or prepare. (Guess we need to win the lottery so I can hire a chef LOL)
(Disclaimer: I received 3 days worth of product for free. All opinions are my own.)

Interesting-I hadn’t heard of this particular company. I also do not like the taste of Stevia. Were you hungry while you did this?
This sounds intriguing. I have never done any type of reset or metabolism kit. I definitely don’t like anything with Stevia either. Thanks for sharing about this!
I have never done a diet reset, but it sounds interesting. It might be something I need to look into. I am glad you had a pretty positive experience
Sounds interesting. Though I’m generally not a fan of cleanses, I like that this one includes food.
I also thought the diet spike read diet Sprite. Clearly another cup of coffee is in order.
I’ve done resets before, but usually just by dropping processed foods and sugars – this was interesting.
Very interesting! I have seen many of my blogging friends (those who I read and follow) reviewing and sharing their opinions on this. Great review!
I need to focus on cleaning up my diet. It’s been horrendous lately but I’ve never considered a juice cleanse because I know that I would be miserable! But I like that this combines juice and food. I totally read Diet Spike as Diet Sprite too!
Oh wow this sounds really good. I wonder what the beauty kit is like? LOLOL!! Welp off to their site to check it out. Thanks for this review. It has piqued my interest.
Great stuff here! Very interesting post. I have never heard of the company before. Thanks for the review!
Great review. I like that it has a combination of food and juice.
I’ve heard a lot of about this one. I like the fact that it has food…maybe I’ll give it a try after my marathon is over!
the whole juice fast sounds really cool! I am interested in trying it!
I dumped my Diet Spike in the tea and then I could not really taste it. That helped me.
Great review! I personally cannot stand the taste of stevia 🙁 I was sent a VEGA shake to try and just couldn’t choke it down either because of the stevia taste. I’ve slowly given up sugar and I can’t figure out why brands think that stevia tastes better than no sweetener at all. I’d much rather have an unsweetened natural taste to a product than the stevia flavour.
