Happy day after Thanksgiving! We had a nice day with family and now we will spend the rest of the weekend playing with friends. Win! Today’s Friday Five topic is Gratitude, so I’m going to tell you 5 thinks I’m thankful for this year. (And huge thanks to Courtney, Mar, and Cynthia for this fun linkup and for becoming IRL friends.) While I’m thankful for many things in my life – my family, my friends, my health, my home, my running, I thought I’d offer 5 very specific things I’m thankful for right.now.
[Tweet “Five things I’m thankful for right now! #happyThanksgiving”]
1. That my kids ran/walked the local turkey trot with Beer Geek and me on Thanksgiving. I have run the same race for the last 7 or 8 years with only a few misses. This is only the second time we made it a family affair. It’s the perfect race for it as there are tons of walkers, dogs, and strollers. Jones even ran a good bit of it (and is now a bit sore because he didn’t really train. Like mother, like son.)
2. That we got to spend a part of our Thanksgiving day with Beer Geek’s dad and stepmom at their house. His dad is recovering from a stroke, so it was a big deal for him to get to spend some time at home. It was nice to have a relaxed meal and have the kids get to spend some time hanging out with their grandfather.
3. That I continue to work hours at a local library’s reference desk. While I’m not ready to jump back into my career, I love the opportunity to help patrons and to spend time with my professional colleagues. It fills my extroverted needs in ways that nothing else I do quite does. (And if you are Facebook friends with me, you know it leads to lots of amusing status updates.)
4.That I have friends on facebook who are experts in areas I know nothing about. I’m almost embarrassed to admit how often I “crowdsource” or “dial a friend”. Life is so much easier with a village to support you!
5. That it’s good beer season. I love dark beers and holiday beers. It makes me happy when beer tastes like chocolate, or coffee, or pie. I already have a stash of more than 10 different six packs of holiday beer for our annual tasting. I can’t wait!
Hope you had a happy Thanksgiving and are enjoying the remainder of your weekend!

I like your item about having friends who are experts – someone once told me, “you don’t have to know everything, you just have to know where to find out”.
I hope you enjoy your weekend! Love your specific list. I have to do a better job of finding tasty holiday beers. I’m more of a fall beer gal myself, but a beer that tastes like pie?? I need that!
It’s so great to hear kids getting involved in turkey trots. I did not this year since it snowed here the day before.
Happy Thanksgiving.
So awesome you can get your kids to run with you. Only my oldest runs (we are doing a half next weekend). My other two think of it as punishment! Happy Thanksgiving!
I love it too when I can get my family to do a race with me. I will be dragging my son to the Jingle all the way next week. Nice list! Looks like you had a great Thanksgiving
awesome list. so nice that you all got to spend time w/beer geek’s dad! how special 🙂 thankful for online friends who have become real friends as well 🙂
I love that beer has been on many of the lists I’ve read today. That’s pretty awesome!!
Being married to a beer geek myself, that’s something to be grateful for in itself!
That’s great that you guys were able to do the Turkey trot as a family! I hope the rest of your Thanksgiving was good too!
That’s so cool that your kids ran the Turkey Trot with you! That can be a fun family tradition now. Beer tasting sounds like a fun thing to add to the holiday festivities. Maybe I’ll offer that this year my son-in-laws would love me! Happy Holiday to you and your family!
Thankful that I’ve gotten to know you Erika!!!
I’m so thankful for other bloggers who lead the way and inspire (and provide me with consistent reading material, unlike myself ;b)
