Good run today. I did three miles in 26:28. I’m slowly bringing my times down for the short runs, but I have to admit that this particular loop is mostly flat.
And now for some whining…
I’m not a big fan of summer. I don’t like to be hot. I don’t like to be sweaty unless I’m running. Jones needs a lot of activity and I don’t particularly like swimming (no Tri’s for me LOL) and sitting out at a hot playground isn’t high on my list either. So, I planned our summer so that we would be home for only about 5 and a half weeks. I figured with Jones in part day camps and Shoo napping, I’d be able to pull off marathon training. Apparently I live in a fantasy world.
Shoo has decided that naps are optional. If he takes one, it’s usually nice and long, but he fights hard not to take one. So, strike one.
Beer Geek (who is very supportive of my running) goes to work really early, so I can run in the afternoons when he gets home. He occasionally has to travel for work, but not often. This summer will apparently be the exception to that. Of the five and a half weeks I’m in town, he’s traveling for two and a half. Yeah, really. Strike two.
I think I’ve managed to cobble together enough help to run while he’s gone, although that was a challenge. The first week he’s gone, five! of my close mom friends are also gone on vacation. I have a mother’s helper coming a couple of days so I can run on the treadmill and I’ll try running on the treadmill before the boys wake up a couple of days.
My sanity may be in question by the end of his travel, but my marathon progress will hopefully still be intact.
