Usually I’ve run at least 10 miles by this point in a week. This week I’ve run 3. I also skipped my workout class because Shoo had a dentist appointment. This is doing weird things to my brain and horrible things to my eating habits. I’ve been on a mini binge – too much chocolate and caffeine (yes, female things are playing into that too) and I’ve been cranky for no reason. I’ve been trying to keep busy to minimize the damage to my waistline and my children.
Shoo and I went for a nice walk today with a friend and her sons. We ended up at the Kettler Ice Rink. It’s where the Washington Capitals practice. Only one player (the team captain, Chris Clark who’s recovering from wrist surgery) was on the ice today, but the boys were quite happy to sit and watch him circle the rink. When he got done, he called the boys down and gave them each a signed puck! He was really nice to the little guys! Shoo is sleeping with the puck under his pillow tonight LOL.
I’m still loving my Mac and my ipod. I bought a small speaker that plugs into the ipod and have been greatly enjoying listening to music while I do stuff in the kitchen. We have a rather extensive (although fairly old) CD collection and I’ve been too lazy to ever bring CDs up to our main CD player. So far I’ve loaded 30 onto the Mac and have been enjoying putting it on shuffle. There was mention in the comments about never seeing Westerberg and ABBA in the same sentence. It’s even weirder to have them play back to back LOL. Today’s additions included Husker Du, The Clash, Son Volt, The Replacements, Meatloaf, and Blondie (yes, really). I’m having so much fun LOL! I think I’m going to need to figure out a way to separate Beer Geek approved music from non-Beer Geek approved music or I’ll be using the skip button often when I’m with him. ;o)
awww, very sweet about Shoo getting the signed puck. that’s awesome. lol at the music
my kids know how to create playlists on the ipod – i think that is the way to segregate the music
I saw Blondie in concert a few years ago at a casino around here . . . really.Glad you love your iPod!
The fiancé is a huge capitals fan, and even he was impressed hearing that Chris Clark gave you pucks! The team has started a hilarious site for female fans called ‘club scarlet’ that’s worth checking out for all of their GQ shots. 🙂
Love Blondie! She’s an icon.I’m glad Shoo got his puck… that is so cool!
How sweet! Is Chris Clark single? 😉
Sounds like great music, keep it interesting! Hope you can get out for a run soon.
You know, when Don Rickles wants to be nice to someone, he just calls him a hockey puck. But this guy actually gives people hockey pucks?Someone out there who’s actually nicer than Don Rickles? Who knew?Actually, as a kid, I’d’ve been tickled to death if I met a Flyer, much less got a PUCK from one!Lucky kids!Wor verif. = “frawk”? Really, sister? You’re not fooling anyone. We all know what you really mean when you say “frawk”!Same to you!
Amen to skipping runs doing weird things to the brain and potentially damanging my children (if I had any– of course, the thought of damaging someone else’s is too horrible to contemplate). Keep on sharing your creative playlists. ;)(Oh, and I’m not gonna even tell Glaven what my word verification was. Seriously. It’s that filthy. Are you doing this on purpose?)
LOL you’re life sounds like mine this week. Dentist appointments and lady issues HAHA!
These low milege weeks are killer, aren’t they!? I’m eating (and drinking) like a pig. It’s embarrassing.
I can’t wait to hear about your half this weekend. I would love to be at your pace. A sub-2 hour is not even remotely possible for me. You’ve gotten really fast lately! I have run 13 miles this week. My half is Saturday. Maybe I should have taken it a bit easier? But I’m still following my marathon training plan.
