My body is asking for a break. I’m hitting my miles and I’m hitting my paces, but between the running and the “cross training” (2+ hours of shoveling is the best.cross.training.EVER), I’m feeling tired and tweaky.
Conveniently, next week is Christmas, so I’ll be busier than normal. Perfect time to cut back on the running. (Not to mention that in the last two days I’ve run 15.5 miles on the ‘mill and tomorrow’s 6ish miles will also be on the treadmill and OMG I hate the treadmill!)
So, how much should I run? My current mileage is 38 per week in 5 runs with a long run of 10.5 miles.
Got an opinion? I’d love to hear it!
Total HBBC points = 251.7
HBBC Week 5 – 45.2
Friday = 9.3 (7.3 mile run + freggies + FB)
Thursday = 16 (2 hours of shoveling + 8 mile run + freggies + FB)
Wednesday =Big Fat Zero!
Tuesday = 7.3 (5.3 mile run + veggies + FB)
Monday = 12.6 (10.6 mile run + veggies + FB)
HBBC Week 4 – 54.7
HBBC Week 3 – 51.6
HBBC Week 2 – 46.8
HBBC Week 1 – 50.4
HBBC pre-bonus points – 3

Yay for a conveniently timed Christmas break. I’ve read somewhere that you should have a cut-back week every month so this can only be a good thing.
Cut-back weeks are really important. If you are up to 38 and feeling like you need a break, I would suggest cutting back to 30 with your long run being 7.
I’d cut it by at least 13 miles and one run. You won’t lose anything and your body will thank you.
Perfect timing for a cut back week! I’d say at least 75%, around 30 miles or even a little less, so you’re ready to pick it back up again.
Thanks for your family card- beautiful pictures of you all!
I’m big on listening to my body. I also tend to lean towards lower weekly miles and still am meeting my race goals. So with that said, that combination is working for me. I wish you well in finding your recipe 🙂
