Tomorrow I’m planning to do a long run again – 13 miles hopefully. To prepare myself for the run, I took the day off from running and made sure to eat plenty of carbs. I’ve fueled myself with Girl Scout cookies, sea bass with spaetzle, creme brulee, and beer.
Beer Geek and I went out to the Liberty Tavern for dinner tonight. Dinner was YUM! and they had a small but very good beer selection. We started out the meal with a shared New Holland’s Dragon Milk (with 9% alcohol, sharing is best) and then I had a Kasteel Rouge for my second beer. Back in the days before strict airline regulations, I carried a backpack full of Kasteel back from Belgium. It was so heavy that every time I stood up, it slowly pulled me over backwards. I’m quite thankful that I can now get it locally.
The boys and I went to a couple of local stores today and began putting together our “beer basket” for the auction. I’ve decided to include only regional beers (VA, MD, PA, and DE to be exact) and am attempting to make sure there is no duplication of style. To that end, we are planning a trip to the Blue and Gray brewery next weekend and to three Charlottesville area breweries the weekend after that. Yeah, I’m willing to sacrifice like that.
Guess we’ll see tomorrow if the theory that beer is good fuel is accurate or not.
(Any typos are in your imagination and are not at all related to the beers I”ve drunk).
Mr. G will be so proud of you… sounds like a great night, good luck on the 13!
mmmmmm sea bass is one of my favorites. That’s what I made on Saturday.Best wishes with your long run tomorrow!

LMAO at Marci! She’s right though! Now you have to make this a once a week type thing 😉
I’d never be able to make a beer basket cause I’d keep drinking everything that was meant to go in it! Can’t wait to hear about the brewery tours!
P.S. My word verification was “hater,” which is perfect for me!
I hope you had a great 13-miler. You are going to have no problem meeting your goal in the half. I, however, fell short and didn’t run smart.
All beer, no runningMCM Mama, if you ever get tired of beer geek [whispers]call me[/whispers], because with a post title like the one you supply above, I … I think I just may love you.And any typos you see in this comment you can attribute to the tears of joy in my eyes. You have finally learned the True Meaning of Beer, Grasshopper!
Girl scout cookies AND beer?! The husband may take up running if he knew this was a recommended diet.
My husband and I love trying different beers, how fun! Creme brulee and beer sound like great pre-run fuel.
