It comes as no surprise to any of my regular readers to hear that I like beer and I like to run. But it did bring me to the attention of someone else – The Beer Runner! Go check out my interview on his blog on Draft Magazine!!!
And for Three Things Thursday:
1. I hurt. All over. Who knew that shoveling snow could make every.single.muscle. in your body hurt? I’ve shoveled snow for a minimum of 1.5 hours every day since Saturday. On Sunday, I think I shoveled for five hours.
2. I knocked out 7 miles on the treadmill today. It may have been the hardest run I’ve ever done. Between the snow shoveling and taking the boys sledding, I was wiped. It took me the entire first mile to loosen up enough to run, as opposed to trudge along. I thought I’d stop at mile 2 for a break, but somehow kept making myself keep moving. I ended up doing all 7 at a slightly below 10 minute pace, with negative splits. Go figure.
3. Jones doesn’t go back to school until Tuesday. I love my kids, but I’ve spent way too much time with them this week. I’m going to need a vacation when this is all over.
I can't wait to read the interview. Wow girl, you certainly got all your exercise in for the month! My workday was pretty much stopped because all of the work I needed to do involved contacting Washington, DC. Hmmmm nobody's home. I hope you dig out soon.
Cool! Congrats on the interview! That is a LONG hiatus from school. Way to go on the t'mill run… after how crazy your days have been with the boys home AND all the shovelling, I would have been tempted to bail.
I am so not jealous of all the shoveling you've been doing! I also can't wait for the kids to go back to school…I lost one of my running partners since last friday since he has had to stay home and take care of his.
Great interview with the Beer Runner! And just think what your arms will look like after all that shoveling ๐ I think you're safe to avoid strength training for a bit.
As a teacher it just blows my mind how long school has been cancelled. Do they go until July 4th now? Lose a vacation? It will be hard to get the kids back into learning mode. This is the optimal time of year for growth! But if they are asking to go back, it will work!
i've had one at home because she is sick…and now, my house will be full til tuesday. i can completely sympathize. sounds like you had a great run. wonderful!
Shoveling is such an arm workout!! Congrats on a great treadmill run…I usually can't last much more than 3 on that thing. I can only stare at the concrete wall for so long. ๐
Great job on that treadmill run – that's amazing. And all that shoveling is some major cross training. You deserve a little vacation!
All that shovelling counts as HUGE cross-training! Wow, schools closed till Tuesday! GOOD LUCK!
I will go check it out. Always fun!Shoveling is NO joke. We got NOTHING in comparison BUT the next day – shovel + sledding = kicked my ass.
Awesome interview!!And, all the shoveling…Yikes!Way to go on the treadmill run!
Beer Geek must be very trusting of you. Might I suggest ditching the book case and installing shelves around the top of the room to display the glassware?
Look foward to reading the interview. I can't believe you ran that much on the dreadmill… you'd never catch me doing such a thing… giving you props on that one!
Congrats on the interview, and that 7 mile run. You're definitely putting in the hard work for the marathon!
snow shoveling is hard work. cross training, seriously! When the snow is gone, and kids are back to school, life will be more normal for you, huh?
Wow– you a a shoveling machine. That's great that you motivated yourself for 7 on a treadmill after all of that hard work! See you tomorrow!
Congrats on the interview. I hope the snow melts soon and you keep power. As of this morning, there were a lot (8000+) people out of power around here. I'm SOOOO glad that we're back in school. They've taken away are Presidents' Day but I'm ok with that. Don't want to go late in the summer.
I read the interview and loved it! If/when you come to Connecticut, let me know. We have the Thomas Hooker Brewery, The Cambridge House Brewpub, and the Willimantic Brewing Company to name a few great beer places for you to check out and drink at!
Well done on the 7 miles on the treadmill…AFTER shoveling snow?! Way to go! (I saw the snow pics…wow. Wow!)Please keep in touch and let me know when you come to Kansas. Maybe we can do the same race! ๐ I, too, had post partum depression. I'm glad you were able to combat it with running. Not an easy or fun thing to experience!
