Thank you to Allied Medal Hangers for sending me a hanger to review.
This coming Sunday, I will be running half marathon #49. That’s kind of a lot of medals. But that’s not all. Oh, no. I have medals from 5 marathons, 2 Ragnars, 2 17.75K, and a handful of other medals. It’s kind of a little crazy here. (And yes, I’m kind of crazy. It’s ok, I know.)
That pile of medals? Those are the ones that don’t fit on the lovely hanger that my father made me. Yeah, I filled that bad boy right up.
So, recently, I reached out to Allied Medals to see if I could review one of their hangers. I mean, it’s just sad to have your medals in a pile on the floor. Right? Thankfully, they agreed and told me to pick a hanger. Simple, right? Not so much. I wanted them all. OK, not the ones about triathlon. But all the others.
You all know I have a thing for shoes, right?
And I’m trying to run a half marathon in all 50 states…
And I’ve lived in the DC area for 20+ years…
And do I even need to mention beer???
But finally I decided on one and they graciously sent me the 24″ version with 3 bars (hey, a girl’s gotta be ready!).
Isn’t she a beauty? And perfect for my quest.
I immediately noticed how incredibly intricate the cuts were and how sturdy it is.
Beer Geek immediately noticed that the city icons are all in order from west coast to east coast.
Obviously attention to detail is one of their strong suits. Not only that but they are a USA based company. Allied Medals is a small, family owned company in Redmond, Washington, USA. All of their medal hangers are designed, cut, grained, and packaged in their shop. Even better, if you can’t find a hanger that you love, you can have them make a custom one for you.
I admit, I am totally enamored of this medal hanger. It’s absolutely perfect for my collection. It’s very well made, quite sturdy, and reasonably priced. It came packed securely and with all the necessary hardware to hang it up. They also sent ribbon clips to make the medals all hang in a way that you can fill the bars and still see all of the medals (not yet used since I’m waiting to hang it up.)
Now I just need to figure out how I want to group my medals. And when we hang it, we’ll be hanging it in such a way that I can add a custom MCM Mama Runs one with it. Yeah, I’m that girl.
Disclaimer: Allied Medals provided this for review. All opinions are my own.
I love Allied Medal Hangers! They sent me one for review and I chose the obstacle racing one- I love that they cater to all sports! They do have beautiful details. I’m probably going to purchase the extra bars for mine because I’m running out of room!!
Purchase more bars? Nah, I want another hanger LOL.
I know what you mean. I have to many medals.
I mostly have put age group awards in a basket and saved my hanger space for halfs. That’s filling up too.
First world problems.
Oh, yeah, totally FWP! With 48 half marathons, I’m kind of overloaded.
I seriously need one! My medals are camping in the first place I set them down post race haha
I always end up with piles of medals in various places. I really need to get Beer Geek to agree on location and get this thing hung up.
Put them in order from West coast to East.
Ooh, I’ll have to try that. Sadly, I have very few West Coast medals. I need to work on that.
I need a medal hanger. I’ve finally decided to take all my medals out of the drawer and hang them up.
I got a medal hanger for Christmas I haven’t put together yet. I might not bother and get one of these instead – I love the D.C. one. The one you got is fantastic, but wouldn’t work for me since I don’t travel for races. 🙂
These are so cool! I’m the process of building my own medal hanger, and I love looking at medal hanger designs. I’ll definitely have to check them out after I build and fill mine!
49 half marathons that amazing! I’m still trying to train for my first!
I haven’t done enough races to have too many medals yet, and I’ve never placed in my age group, but I’m starting to accumulate them- mostly from Disney. My hubby bought me a hanger for Xmas that says “coast to coast” and has Disneyland castle on one end, & Disney World’s on the other. All 10 hooks are filled so guess it’s time to get another hanger for my upcoming races 🙂 I like the style of this one with the bars so might have to check that out.
I just finally broke down and ordered this one too. I’ve been wanting it for a while, but my husband insisted I get it now. He won’t let me hang the medal I got in KS yesterday on my existing rack for fear that the extra little bit of weight will be what finally pulls it out of the sheetrock. hahaha
