Mama rested.
Yesterday my run was physically and mentally challenging. Doing the speedy run the day before left my legs like lead. Mentally I was just not feeling the love. The run itself ended up going ok, but I think it’s time to take a day off. Could I push through and keep going? Yeah, probably, but streaking has never been a personal goal. I love running, but I like my days off too.
Speaking of goals, I’m putting off making any major goals for myself for the moment. I’m going to try and run at least 30 miles a week for August. Not sure how that will pan out as I’ve decided not to run the Madison Mini while I’m home. Wonder if I can manage serious mileage with very few long runs? Not even sure I’ll be that upset if I don’t make it. (I think burning the candle at both ends plus running 13 days in a row has caught up with me.)
Instead, I’ll be setting goals for someone else. Another blogger is stark raving mad enough willing to let me coach her to the finish line of a local half marathon. So, welcome C.Mom to the MCM Mama posse! We haven’t met yet, but she’s local to me, so I plan to meet up with her for at least a couple of runs. I’m also toying with the idea of pacing her to the finish line at the Wilson Bridge Half Marathon.
So, follow along as I get C. Mom to the bridge!
Administrative note: If you haven’t already, please send me an email with your distance and blog address to mom2shoo @ gmail.com if you are participating in the Mama Goes Masters virtual race. It’ll make it a lot easier for me to link everyone when I publish the participant’s list in a couple of days!
You're going to be a great coach! I think the longest running streak I ever went on lasted 7 days. I get lazy 😉
Rest days are important! As a coach, I'm glad you are listening to your body so you can lead by example. 🙂
pacing me? ooh ooh–keep toying with that! Thanks Coach!
We're streaking the Quad! I love that movie…. I had to talk myself into a day off and it was fantastic.
Glad you enjoyed the rest. I definitely need/love my days off. Awesome that you have someone to coach! She'll be lucky to have you.
I'm with Joy, I think you'll be an awesome coach! Can't wait to hear how it goes.Enjoy the rest day – you deserve it!
awesome! you'll make a great coach! and then people will always refer to you as "coach." lol. i have at least 20 friends/family who always call me coach, even if it was from a 5k i did with them with 10 years ago! lol
Pacing is so fun! You are going to be a wonderful coach 🙂 Enjoy the rest day; they are important!
How fun that yo get to play coach to another runner! I have thought about coaching. Mainly because I like bossing people around, but I don't know if I would be orgnaized enough to really be effective for another runner.Good luck with 30 miles a week in August!
I agree with the others! You are going to be great at coaching 🙂
Lucky lady to be coached and paced by you!Resting is good…enjoy! 🙂
