Saturday, the DC area missed a record high by two minutes. Seriously. It was 106* for exactly one minute, but it needed to be that hot for at least 3 minutes to count. As far as I’m concerned, 105* was still awfully darn hot.
Sunday, I begged one of my friends to let us come over and use her pool. Otherwise, we were all going to sit inside all day and not move. (We had to turn our air up to about 82 to get it to actually turn off once in a while, so the inside of our house was melting hot on the main level.)
But they promised us it would cool off if we could just get through the severe storms. Yay, just what this area needs – more wind and lightning damage. The first storm missed us, doing nothing but dropping the temp a few degrees but raising the humidity to about 98%. I think we got to see what it would feel like to live inside a tropical fish tank. Oy.
Finally, around midnight, a pop up shower, with an amazing lightning show, but no wind, saturated our area and brought the temps down to a level a human can survive in. It is currently 75* with a light rain. After the nasty hot we’ve had recently, I’m actually considering opening the windows LOL.
Sadly, I’m home alone with the kids today, so I’ll be waiting until Beer Geek comes home to go for a run. Sad panda face here.
Totally unrelated, go vote for my friend BethAnn here. If anyone deserves to go to Kona, she does.
That weather you’ve been having is crazy nuts.
Glad it’s now 75* for you.
We are 113* today—-we have a few spare rooms.
Seriously the DC weather has been crazy! Glad it “cooled” off a little for you!
We’ve even seen reports of your ridiculously hot weather on our news. I don’t envy you at all. We’ve had weeks some summers when it’s been so stinking hot that I fill up the bath and just jump in and out when needed. And that’s why winter is my favourite season.
It has certainly been an extra hot summer for you guys!
we FINALLY got ours yesterday too.
I danced.
105?! Oh my! You sound like us now.
