Last night I dropped off my car at the mechanic for its annual inspections and an oil change. If you follow me on Facebook, you know that this prompted some unplanned speedwork as I raced a thunderstorm back to my house.
I planned to pick up the car today after a nice 5-6 mile run while Shoo was at a playdate.
Wrong.
I woke up this morning to a call from the mechanic telling me that his emissions inspector had called in sick, so they wouldn’t be able to do that part of the inspection today. Since I leave on Wednesday for most of August, this really left me in a bind. Emissions inspection HAD to happen today. So, it was time for a new plan.
Here’s how it all played out:
I dropped Shoo at his friend’s house and dropped my other car back at the house. I ran a seriously circuitous route to the mechanic (2.8 miles in 30 minutes – it was like running in water. Gills would have been helpful.) Picked up car, took it to another mechanic, waited while it was inspected. Huge apologies to everyone I encountered as I was so sweaty I looked like I’d been swimming.
Now, car inspected, last bit of run finished (I couldn’t just leave it at less than 3 miles!), shower about to happen.
It wasn’t the run I wanted, but at least it was a run.
Nice job fitting it in there!
That’s one way to get in your speed work!
Way to go “sneaking” a run in! 🙂
Clever plan to get errands and a run done. Nice work!
Well done. I would have probably had a minor meltdown and not coped. You problem-solved like a master.
“Running” errands is always the best… even if it doesn’t go as planned, like you said, you got the miles in. Nicely done.
Sometimes the most random runs are the best!
