One of the things I love about long (very straight) hair is that there is no such thing as bedhead. Seriously, I could roll out of bed and brush my hair and it would look just as good as if I’d washed it (and sometimes better LOL).
Those days are over for now.
About a year ago, I realized my hair was getting pretty long and decided to just let it grow until I got tired of it and then donate it. I did some research and found a group I wanted to donate to: Children with Hair Loss.
I chose Children with Hair Loss for 3 reasons:
- I like that they give free wigs and care kits to kids who are experiencing hair loss for any reason (and as far as I can tell from internet research, they are a legit company with a good record.)
- They only required 8″
- They take grey hair (mine isn’t far from completely grey, but I have quite a few sections of grey)
All that remained was to get tired of having long hair.
Nike took care of that for me. I was already kind of tired of the long hair, but after spending 2+ hours of running unwrapping my ponytail from around my neck, I was DONE.
Tuesday night, Shoo cut of 10 inches of hair for me. (Yes, I did let my child cut my hair. )
What it looks like after a visit to the stylist:
The rain finally seems to be done, so hopefully I’ll be taking my new ‘do out on its maiden run today. I’m going to guess it’s going to be a “hats all the time” sort of summer. Guess that gives me a good excuse to go hat shopping LOL.
Now to figure out what to do with it when I wake up and it’s going in every direction…
Coming up this weekend: Half marathon #10 – Frederick Running Festival Half Marathon.

Absolutely LOVE it!
Cuuuuute!!!!
Thanks! I’m really digging it!
I love it! =)
thanks!
Erika what a great cause to donate to! I think you look amazing and trendy! Way to Rock the new hair cut!
Thanks! I’m loving not having my hair constantly wrapped around my neck LOL.
Oh I love it! I grow my hair until it gets what I call “Brady Bunch” and then I get it cut. But unfortunately I never get 8 inches or more because it is in my marital contract that I keep at least shoulder length hair. SNORE. You look awesome!
love it short
It’s adorable!
Such an awesome thing to do! Hair always grows so the bed head stage is short lived but in the same sentence you may just wake up in that “Bridget Bardot” kind of style 😉
Ha!I’m just pretending the tousled look is intentional…
It’s super cute!!! You know I’m a fan of short hair!! I use a squirt bottle most mornings so I don’t scare people even though all I’m doing is working out!
Thanks! And the squirt bottle sounds like a great idea…
Yup, shorter is better!
I had a feeling you’d approve. ;o)
Such a great way to give! And I love your haircut! My daughter and I did Locks for Love a few years back – it felt really good to be a part of that experience!
Yeah, it feels good to actually do something with it, instead of just having it cut off…
I really like your haircut and what a great cause to donate to!
Thanks! And I really liked the cause as well. Love that they give kids free wigs.
The hair looks great, and that’s awesome that you were able to donate it to a great cause.
Thanks! I couldn’t believe I had around 10 inches!
Wonderful cause to donate to, and I think it looks great short (and long too!). I think you’ll definitely need to embrace hats and thick headbands, those were my saviors when I had short hair a few years back.
Luckily I have both an extensive collection of hats and Bondi bands LOL.
Very pretty haircut! And what a wonderful cause to donate to. I visited from The SITS & am glad I did. Have a great weekend!
Thanks! And thanks for stopping by!
