I hope everyone is having a lovely Labor Day! We had a ton of fun at an impromptu party on Saturday and then we went out on our friends’ boat yesterday. I’m a bit sunburned and a lot tired and a somewhat sore, both from running 3 times in 24 hours this weekend (Ragnar, I’m ready!) and from our wild boat ride home as we raced the storm!
Today, I’m featuring another Half Crazy Mom. Want to be featured? Email me at mcmmamaruns at gmail.com. I’d love to feature YOU!
Erica is a busy running mom, living in the beautiful state of Hawaii! I’m only a little jealous. (I’d probably be a lot jealous if I wasn’t so over summer at this point LOL. And I’m having the hardest time spelling her name right since I spell mine with a “k”.)
Welcome, Erica!
When was your first half marathon? What race?
The Maui Marathon in September 2010. I ran it in memory of my Dad. In 2011 I ran my first marathon. It was the same race and my mom and aunt were there to see my finish. It is still one of my best memories.
How many half marathons have you run total?
8 half marathons
Which one was your favorite?
The Kauai Half Marathon in 2011. It was just two weeks before my first marathon. I went to Kauai by myself and got to meet Dean Karnazes and run an absolutely beautiful course. It was very spiritual.
How or when did you decide to run more half marathons?
It was easy. When I ran my first I knew I was on my way to run a marathon in memory of my dad. I just never imagined how running would become such a huge part of my being.
Tell us a bit about your goals
My goal is to break a 4:00 marathon. I don’t know why time matters but I guess it is a way for me to measure my success or commitment. In addition, I want to run and do yoga every single day forever….or until I have no more desire to do so.

#irun4toby because this experience is touching my heart so deeply. There is new meaning to my running.
The open letter to my daughter because it just touches on our relationship. She is my number 1 cheerleader, my support crew, my coach. I teach her. She cheers me on. I am blessed.
Erica’s Bio
I am Erica and I am a 41-year old mom of a 6 year old daughter, wife, full-time employee, marathoner, and blog author living in the middle of the Pacific Ocean.
My blog focuses on my passions in life – being a runner and being a mom. It contains my training plans and what I do to overcome obstacles. However, I can’t resist tossing in a few stories about darling daughter, nutritious recipes, or how I strive to live in unity with nature. I include a daily gratitude and affirmation to remind myself, and others, that we all have a lot to be thankful for and we are capable and strong.

Thanks for sharing and I have the same problems – using a K when typing Erik or Erika. Both times I did a C first. 🙂
Running on Hawaii – a dream come true!!
I’m working on my running comeback. I took off almost a year while I was pregnant and now I’m adjusting to being a stay at home mom and working out with a baby. I would love to be featured on your blog.
