Welcome to the last "Tuesdays on the Run" for 2015! I can't believe the year is coming to an end already. Wasn't it just yesterday that I got the bright idea to run two marathons in a weekend? (Oh wait, no, yesterday's harebrained idea was to run a 24 or 48 hour race next December.) Anyways, today's topic is "bling"! As in, show us your bling! I want to see what you got this year (after all, I still need to plan 2016...) Somehow, I managed to get 15 medals in 2015. I didn't even plan it LOL. I didn't even intentionally plan to run 15 races - I thought I'd be much lower in 2015. Instead, I managed 3 marathons, 8 half marathons, 1 Ragnar, 1 17.75k, 1 10k, and 2 5ks. As I sit here and try to choose my favorites, all I can thing of is … [Read more...]
2015 in Pictures
This is my favorite post that I write each year. Not so much the actual writing of the post, but because I have so much fun re-reading many of the posts I wrote the rest of the year. It's always a good way to remember that I live a pretty awesome life and that my running life in particular is a ton of fun! One of these years I'll have a post about some PRs (even if it's just post 40 PRs), but this is not that year. This year I'm writing this as part of our Tuesdays on the Run Highlights of Running! I wrapped up 2014 by running one last race - the Jacksonville Half Marathon - rounding out the year with 17 half marathons. Then I took a nice little running break. January January kicked off with a return to regular running and the … [Read more...]
Taper Crazies
It's Taper Time around here. Except that tapering seems to imply that I actually had peak weeks. Which I did. 4 weeks ago! Normally I like tapering, but since I don't feel like I finished my training, I'm feeling a little antsy. Which makes it the perfect time to Think Out Loud! This weekend is Runner's World Half and Festival. I've been excited for this for so long! But, I don't know which races I will be running. In fact, I won't know which races I'll actually finish until I actually finish. Yep, I promised my chiro that if I felt any pain at all, I'll DNF. I've never actually done that before. My chiro really gets me. How do I know that? He suggested I go to Bethlehem Brew Works while I'm there. (He went to undergrad in … [Read more...]
Ultimate Coffee Date – Labor Day edition
Happy Saturday! Hope you have some fun plans this Labor Day weekend! We are busy busy getting ready for school (finally)! I'm joining up with my friends Deborah, Coco, and Lynda for a virtual coffee date. If we were having coffee, I'd tell you I hardly ran at all last week. We had a huge return to summer weather, Beer Geek was traveling for work, and my allergies were kicking my butt. All those added up to me not only NOT running much, but also not caring that I ran much. It's supposed to be cooler starting today, so hopefully that will help my bad attitude. … [Read more...]
TOTR: 2015 {crazy} race schedule
Today for Tuesdays on the Run, we are all sharing our 2015 race schedules. Stop by Patty and April's blogs and check out the linked blogs. And don't forget to share your fun plans! 2015 was supposed to have a quiet spring. My plan was to do the Marine Corps Marathon in the fall and I'd had the Mainly Marathon Center of the Nation series on the calendar for almost two years. After I loved last year's Ragnar DC so much, I added that to my fall as well. So the plan for spring was to run for fun and slowly start building my miles and enjoy the Frederick Half Marathon in the beginning of May before I started to get serious about training for 6 half marathons in 6 days and my 3rd marathon. … [Read more...]
#RocknBlog 2015! + 2 winners!
I am so excited to announce that I got chosen to be part of the Rock 'n' Roll Marathon's 2015 Rock 'n' Blog team! It's pretty much a given I'll be running RNR USA because that's my hometown race, but I'd be interested to hear what everyone else's favorite Rock N Roll race is! … [Read more...]
