5 ways I’m focusing on my health in September
While there were many awesome things about this summer, I have to say that taking care of my personal health was not a high priority. My exercise levels were low and my eating was poor. I hate hot weather, so I spent way too much time inside, much of it sitting in front of a computer. I swear I experience something like SAD every summer. Being hot just makes me feel out of sorts. Add in a bit of crappy running, a touch of perimenopause, and frustration with the way my clothes are fitting and you have a recipe for someone in need of change. So, as we head into my favorite part of the year, I'm making some changes to jump start feeling more like myself. I'm joining the Friday Five linkup with Mar, Courtney, and Cynthia by sharing 5 … [Read more...]
Can we not talk running?
I'm kind of feeling like running is taking over my life. I'm not really surprised. After all, I remember when I made my training plan, I commented to Beer Geek that I was going to spend February just running. But, gah! All I've been doing is running. And eating. (And I have the weight gain to prove it.) It's "Love your veggies" month at WIAW, so here's what I've been eating (and I'm sure you really care. Or not.) I've been all about comfort food lately. I made a super yummy beef and sweet potato chili that I ate pretty much constantly for three days. (Beer Geek says it's not chili because chili should not have sweet potato. Whatever. It still tasted good.) I also tossed a chicken in the crockpot (easiest recipe ever - rinse … [Read more...]
A weekend in pictures
It's been a good weekend. I filled the freezer with a year's worth of grass-fed beef... I ran in place for a really long time... I drank back all of the calories at Mad Fox Brew Pub (and then later at Tallulah)... Today, I finished out my 50 mile week by running another 7.5 miles... And then I organized all of our beer... I'd like to say that I'm gonna kick back and watch the Super Bowl, but I'm much more likely to finish the laundry and organize my linen closet. I totally know how to party LOL. What fun things did you do this weekend? Are you watching the Super Bowl? … [Read more...]
TTT: Hoarder Edition
We've lived in our house for more than 15 years. Growing up, I moved at least every three years. The difference between the two is that you tend to declutter stuff every time you move. When you don't move, you have to actually make an effort to declutter. 1. I hoard outgrown kid stuff. Partly because I'm lazy, partly because I never know when one of the kids is going to freak out about something they can't find, partly because I think "oh, I can sell that." Well, hello, my time is much better spent working than organizing. I got a call this week from one of the places I donate to. They have a pickup in my neighborhood on Friday. This... will be leaving my house tomorrow AM. 2. I'm an emotional hoarder. I still have the … [Read more...]
