Awesome but exhausting weekend

Awesome but exhausting weekend

We live a pretty low key life. It's quite infrequent that we have multiple social events in one weekend, but this weekend was the exception to that. I think I need a detox to recover... I'm linking up with Tara and Erin for my weekend recap, so stop by their blogs to see what everyone else is up to. Friday started dark and rainy with a 4am alarm. No, I didn't have a race - Jones had to be at the school by 5am for a field trip. After I delivered him safely onto the bus, I headed back home and went back to sleep for two hours, which totally discombobulated me. The rest of the day was a crazy blur of work, errands, running and kid transporting. Oh, and a mammogram. Because, hey why not schedule that on a crazy busy day? … [Read more...]

That’s my boy!

That’s my boy!

This weekend Shoo had 3 soccer games.  It was like the Ragnar of soccer: 11:00am Saturday, 5:15pm Saturday, and 12:15pm Sunday (heading to that one in a few minutes). His first game yesterday was hot, there were no subs, and it was on a much bigger field than they played on last year. 30 minute halves, running pretty much non-stop. Shoo came off the field at the end red-faced, covered in sweat, and  looking like he'd run a marathon. I expected him to whine about having to play another game later that day because he was so tired. Instead, he said to me: "Mom, that was sooo much fun." And then he proceeded to practice soccer for the time in between games and run his tush off at the second game that day. Sweat is good. … [Read more...]

Happy Birthday to my little spook + Foodie Penpal Reveal

Happy Birthday to my little spook + Foodie Penpal Reveal

7 years ago, Shoo arrived two weeks early and super fast, showing us right from the start that he had his own agenda.  Perhaps when I asked him to wait until after Boo at the Zoo, I should have specified that I meant more than a few hours. This year, he got an extra special birthday present in the form of two days off of school thanks to Sandy, the Frankenstorm. Thankfully, it held off until AFTER 8 little boys ran crazy through my yard to celebrate his birthday.  We ran them like crazy, then fed them sugar, and sent them home.  We are evil that way. Today is also Foodie Penpal reveal day! Once again I hit the jackpot.  I got some amazing homemade popcorn, some lovely tea, honey, and a beer that Beer Geek will really enjoy!  … [Read more...]

Three Things Thursday

Three Things Thursday

I'm not even sure who I'm borrowing this idea from as many of my RBFs are doin' it.1. It's a good thing I decided to cut my mileage back. I ran six miles today and I could not have run a step further. In fact, Garmin needed charging, so I was running "old school" and I'm not sure I managed to complete a full 6 miles in the hour and six minutes I ran. 2. I've been a decluttering maniac lately. I've been selling/donating anything that the kids have outgrown. I asked Beer Geek about selling a specific baby gate and his response was that I could get rid of anything in the house but the tv, the computer, and his bed. OK, then. I'll take that as license to purge. ;o)3. If you allow a 3 year old and a 4 year old to play upstairs by … [Read more...]

I’m a Fanatic!

I’m a Fanatic!

OK, really just a "Half Fanatic". Yep, with that lovely combination of two half marathons in two weekends in May, I qualified for the lowest level of membership, AKA a Neptune. The best part about it? Now I have my first goal for 2010 - to qualify for the next level. I don't know if I'll get beyond the second level anytime in the near future, but I feel the need to at least get out of the bottom level. I guess I have "issues" with just barely qualifying for something LOL.Shoo and I headed out to Cox Farms today while Jones was at school. We had a blast! This is the first time I've gone to a fall festival with only one child (I was HUGELY pregnant with Shoo when we took Jones to his first one). It was so much fun to just focus on him … [Read more...]

Semi-Wordless Wednesday: I think he’s ready for the mosh pit

September 30, 2009 by MCM Mama 8 Comments

At the festival this weekend, Jones and Shoo went in this really cool climbing thing. Jones was all about getting to the highest level. Shoo, on the other hand, was all about the music. … [Read more...]

Long day, no running, and more fun with Shoo

May 12, 2009 by MCM Mama 9 Comments

Today was my last day to co-op at Shoo's preschool.  Unfortunately, thanks to the race and a pretty leg intensive workout yesterday, my legs were really sore this morning.  When I got to the school, I was assigned to the nursery - not my favorite age.   I spent the subsequent 5.5 hours getting up and down off of the ground.  Exhausting! As I left Shoo's preschool, Beer Geek called to tell me he'd be late getting home, so no running for me.  :o(  And Shoo took a nice long nap at preschool, so he's unlikely to go to bed at a reasonable hour. So, I'm sitting on the front porch, watching him play in the yard, as the closest thing to "me" time I'm going to get today.  He went inside to get another ball and came back out carrying a lemonade box. … [Read more...]
