I've done a few "year in review" posts so far this month and it appears that my year was pretty amazing. But I haven't looked back at my goals since June, so it's time to take a quick look and see which ones I met, which ones I missed, and which ones I completely forgot I had. … [Read more...]
Top Five Posts from 2015 + Christmas Kranz
It's been a busy few weeks around here, but yesterday morning I finished my last work meeting until after Christmas, so Beer Geek and I headed out on a lunch "date". Now I'm relaxing with my family and enjoying way too many Christmas cookies and a lot of beer. Since I don't plan to spend much time online for the next few days, I decided to do my Friday Five a day early and include one of my favorite holiday recipes/traditions. I'll link it up to Courtney, Mar, and Cynthia eventually. Top five posts from 2015... Night Owl's Guide to Being a Morning Runner - Judging by the popularity of this post, I'm apparently not the only one who struggles to get up early to work out. Thankfully, my kids are back in school and it makes more … [Read more...]
2015 in Pictures
This is my favorite post that I write each year. Not so much the actual writing of the post, but because I have so much fun re-reading many of the posts I wrote the rest of the year. It's always a good way to remember that I live a pretty awesome life and that my running life in particular is a ton of fun! One of these years I'll have a post about some PRs (even if it's just post 40 PRs), but this is not that year. This year I'm writing this as part of our Tuesdays on the Run Highlights of Running! I wrapped up 2014 by running one last race - the Jacksonville Half Marathon - rounding out the year with 17 half marathons. Then I took a nice little running break. January January kicked off with a return to regular running and the … [Read more...]
My Wish List
It's time for Friday Five and the topic is Holiday Wish Lists. I'm going to share my wish list of things I'd like to find under the tree, which shares some similarities with my holiday gift guide and I'm also going to share a bit about my hopes and dreams for the next year. Some of the limited edition Skirt Sports items (affiliate link) - Have you seen the adorable items that they just came out with? So cute with snowflakes and plumes and other designs. I love that they are black with a bit of added flourish. Because sometimes, a girl just needs basic black with a little zing. I kind of want one of everything (that's why it's on my wish list), but will be happy with anything that comes my way this year. A treadmill - I know. I've … [Read more...]
2015 Year in Running
I've been doing Miss Zippy's Year in Running post for several years now. I did 2014, 2013 and 2012, so even though Amanda has started focusing on other venues, I had to write this post. Luckily, Courtney has taken it on, so I'll link up with her instead this year. I'll admit that this post (and a few others) are written more for me than you, but I hope you enjoy them as well. … [Read more...]
Top 5 posts of 2014
I've been noticing these posts around the blogosphere, so I was curious to see what I'd find in my own statistics. I mean, I take a look at my stats on a regular basis, so I kind of have a feel for what is popular, but I wanted to see what posts came out on top. And there were some surprises... 1. Five Stages of Running a Half Marathon This did not surprise me at all. It went a little viral on Facebook when I published it. Honestly, I think it's my favorite post that I have ever written. And I have yet to run a long race that doesn't go down pretty much the same.exact.way. 2. Mental Side of Running These tips were written as much for me as for you. I really struggled with my running this fall and these are the things I … [Read more...]
Tuesdays on the Run 2014 Wrap Up
It's hard to believe that this is the last Tuesdays on the Run for 2014! It's been an awesome year and I've loved joining Patty and April on this fun linkup. I can't wait to see the fun that we come up with next year. (And if you'd like to join us as a guest host in 2015, hit me up with a comment or email!) Yes, 2014 was pretty much this awesome! … [Read more...]
Tuesdays on the Run: 2014 in Pictures
I've been doing a year in pictures post for a few years now. I love it because I get to look back on my year. It's my virtual flipping through the scrapbook of my life. I was happy I could convince Patty and April that this would make a good topic this week. January … [Read more...]
2014: My year in racing {link-up}
Last year, I successfully completed 13 half marathons in 2013. Barely. As in, I ran the last race in December and would have DNS'd it if I hadn't made that goal. But, I admit, hitting the goal was pretty awesome, so of course I raised the bar for 2014. I decided I'd run 14 half marathons in 2014! But wait, there's more! Not only was I going to run 14 in '14, I was going to run 13 of those 14 in 79 days to reach Venus status with Half Fanatics (which I must admit is a pretty arbitrary goal. Who really cares what my Half Fanatic level is?) But I did it! I hit Venus and then ran my first international race in Ireland. Plus one in Wisconsin. And another in West Virginia. And I have one more to go. 17 in '14 for the win! Just for the … [Read more...]
Tuesdays on the Run: Year of Running
I didn't plan to participate in Miss Zippy's Year in Running post this year, because I have a number of "wrap up" posts coming in the next couple of weeks. However, Patty, April, and I decided to make this a free week and I couldn't resist since I did this in both 2013 and 2012. I enjoyed reading the older posts, so I'm doing this for me - so I can look back again next year. … [Read more...]
2012 in pictures
I have to admit, this is my absolute favorite post to write each year. To write it, I go back and look at the last year on my blog. It's so fun to see the big things and little things that make up each year. So, here's a recap for you. January Although the Badgers let me down, I found the most important factor in my fitness success, I learned how to sneak up on a long run, and I PR'd a 1k Beer Walk. February February started with a new home on the web here at MCM Mama Runs, I ran 10 miles in Vibram Five Fingers, I ran for Sherry, and I left it all on the course at the coldest race I've ever run March I raced in State #18, I fell in love with a skirt, and I ran like a mother. April I met up … [Read more...]
