Today we thank all of those who have sacrificed for the freedoms the rest of us are enjoying. I try to keep that in mind as we enjoy our weekend and listen to Rolling Thunder as it goes by. We have had a very busy, but fun weekend. Today, sadly, will be all about getting homework and chores done, so no more partying for me, but that's ok. Back to the real world. … [Read more...]
Onzie guest review
A while back, I was approached by Onzie to review their current line of clothing. I'd reviewed their items in the past and loved them, but they are definitely more yoga focused and I wanted to give them a review as yoga clothes. So, I reached out to my favorite yogi and asked her to check them out for me! When Erika asked me to guest review for Onzie, I was thrilled! As a yoga teacher and practitioner, I was already familiar with their fun and vibrant line of pants and had a pair I already loved. I’m also a runner, in case you were wondering what our common link was! [Tweet "Check out @Onzie's comfortable & fashionable clothes as tested by a yogi/runner! #FitFluential "] … [Read more...]
Onzie yoga clothing review
I know, you are thinking, "she's a runner, why yoga clothing?" In fact, that was my first response and I nearly turned them down. Until I took a close look at their website. Created by a young Bikram Yogi and manufactured in the US, Onzie offers yoga, lifestyle wear, and (dare I say it?) running clothes that spice up your wardrobe. With a motto of "keep your practice challenging, and your wardrobe simple", the clothing offers simple, but interesting designs, with a lot of awesome patterns. I chose one item (because I REALLY REALLY wanted it) and asked them to surprise me with the other items. I was not disappointed! The one item that I really wanted was their cardigan. I could totally picture wearing that with several … [Read more...]
When clouds align… + winners
My run on Sunday was pretty much the definition of suck. 5.1 miles of struggling to keep moving. Yesterday's run wasn't any better. I'm used to long runs being hard, but yesterday took the cake. And it was definitely physical not mental: I went out only planning about 4-5 miles and I met a friend at mile one. Every single step was a challenge, my legs were tired, and my breathing was just off. It was 9.2 slow, grueling miles. So, today is a "rest from running" day. I know that I need to run some back to back long runs and I know I benefit from forcing my tired legs to run. But I also know sometimes pushing through exhaustion results in injury. It's a delicate balance. I woke up this morning to a misty, grey day and temps in … [Read more...]
People amuse me
I've gotten hits from some really good searches lately. The most frequent amusing search I get? Barefoot and naked, often combined with running... Some of my favorites: "Dancing barefoot and nude" - umm, yeah, no. "Can a biker love a non-biker " - I'd say yes, you know, mixed marriages and all that. "the fish that was in the basement" - sorry, he's back upstairs now. (And why would someone search this???) "husband tells me I'm not young anymore" - well, he probably isn't either. Tell him to get over himself. "the rain came inside our house" - really? That does suck for you. (Again, why do people search these things?) "things I always forget when I go to the grocery store" - I'll get right on making a list for you, … [Read more...]
Bikram Yoga Review
First off, I'm not big into yoga. I've only ever done yoga as part of another class. I took a pi-yo (pilates yoga) class when Jones was a baby, but that's it. It felt amazing to walk into the hot, hot room. I can't imagine enjoying that in summer, but right now when I've felt cold for a week, it felt great. I was afraid I'd have trouble with the heat and everyone told me just to sit if I needed to. Apparently, just staying in the room the first few times is an accomplishment. Surprisingly, I managed to complete the whole workout. I was dripping wet by the end and had a bit of trouble grabbing onto slippery body parts, but it.was.awesome. I found the balance poses a challenge, but that's a personal issue LOL. I also had trouble … [Read more...]
