Earworm? Maybe?
Today’s topic brought all sorts of songs to mind. And now this one is stuck in my head! (So, of course, I needed to share it with you all…)
Today at Tuesdays on the Run, we want to know how you celebrate after a race. Are you one who hangs around the finish festival drinking a beer or listening to music? Or are you one who beats feet out of there as soon as you cross the finish line? And if you don’t party at the finish, what do you do to celebrate a race?
I’m one who pretty much always leaves a race immediately, but there’s one combination that will keep me there: good beer and good company.
Otherwise, I’m much more inclined to head home or head towards a better beer option.

I”m right there with you…I feel like I need to run a race with you so we can hang out and drink beer!
Yes! I’m in Wisconsin pretty regularly. We need to make a meet up happen.
I typically leave the scene at my earliest convenience as well. In Twin Cities though there was plenty of time spent in the beer tent, followed by some coaster riding at the Mall of America.
Not a beer drinker, but I’m with you on the celebration libations! π
If it’s a race at home, I leave pretty quickly. My last race had bundtinis from Nothing Bundt Cakes so I made sure to get one before I headed to my car.
GOOD BEER is the key.
That does not include over-processed Bud/Miller products, but does include nearly any micro-brew.
Good company and some food and music are always a plus.

It depends who is sharing the race w me. If they are just there for support and not running I usually leave right aways. It’s always nice having other runners with me that way we have a reason to stick around and celebrate.
Okay now I feel like I need to put on Kool and the Gang. Thanks for getting that song stuck in my head! π
I definitely leave ASAP! After a race, I want a shower and to get out of my running clothes. Sometimes I’ll go back to the finish line if that’s an option, but most often I end up celebrating with my family over dinner later that night – after a shower and a nap!
Unless I’m hanging out with friends I leave after I’ve had something to drink and maybe a banana. But why I mean we paid for this we should enjoy all the vendors and such the race producers have for us. After all we are paying for it. Ha, I might even be a better blogger in race recaps if I stayed around longer. π
Yay for beer! I personally don’t love beer, I need to find more wine-based races!
I’ve been singing this song all morning since I saw your post come into my feed. Thank you. I typically hang around a while and chat with friends, if I know anyone there. After that, I’m looking for a gigantic coffee. Adult beverages later.
Does taking a nap count cause I like to do that? Usually my celebrations are to catch up with friends over breakfast and relive the highlights or lowlights.
My wife, Paula pointed me to your great site and the Tuesday link-up. What a great idea…you all have awesome sites – hope you dont mind me contributing this week!
Cheers!
James
I so appreciate my friends who typically wait around for a while after they’re done with their race to wait for my sorry butt. It’s yet another one of their most-endearing qualities.
I prefer a good champagne after a race π
