I’ve mentioned before that, as a military brat, I was used to moving every three years, sometimes more often or for short periods of time. I really think that created a need in me to constantly have BIG.CHANGES on the horizon. We bought our current house 16 years ago and have no intention of moving anytime in the forseeable future. I joke that this need for change resulted in Jones, Shoo, and two marathons LOL. Beer Geek is getting nervous as I think he’s afraid I’ll be tearing out the kitchen tomorrow. (If money were not a concern, I would be LOL)
Instead, I’m messing around with smaller impact things in my life…
1. I’m redesigning my header. Expect to see random changes over the next few weeks until I either figure out what I love (unlikely) or hire a professional to do it. For the moment, I’m crowdsourcing:
- Do you like the tagline “MCM Mama Runs… for beer and bling”?
- Got a better suggestion?
- Background image, yes or no? I can’t decide if I want something simple with white or some sort of image as the background. I kind of like the funky background I have up today, but I need to incorporate running somehow…
2. I have a job interview today. Oddly, I don’t even know exactly what the job is and I was so surprised to get a call (I sent in my resume a LONG time ago), that I forgot to ask. I also have no idea what I’m wearing. It’s been a long time since I had to wear professional clothes and I’m pretty sure everything in my closet is outdated. Do people even where suits to interview anymore? I’m pretty sure that running clothes are not appropriate…
3. I’m seriously considering chopping off my hair. When I started this blog, my hair looked like this:
Now, it looks like this (it’s actually longer, but I couldn’t find a recent picture where it wasn’t in a ponytail)…
So, those are my random thoughts on this grey Thursday morning (I NEED sun, people!) Do you embrace change or does change bother you? Have you made big changes on your blog? Any advice there is appreciated…
I don’t have a problem with “most” change, however I am getting better about “needing” change. For example, I don’t have to rearrange a room in my apartment every six months…
As far as the header goes, I love the picture, but the font and the dark black color of the letters does not really go with the picture.
Header might be fun if you can get photo with medals showing through the beer glasses, agree white or your favorite light color lettering might look better.
Hair – some of us have very few options, so go for what feels good to you.
I like it short.
I love the tag-line!!!
Your hair is cute short!!
I used to really like change but as I’ve gotten older I’m pretty content to keep things as they are.
I like your hair short and I like it long. Not many people can get away with either!
I really like the tag line too but agree that the mix of the dark lettering and the image still needs some tinkering. I’m also one who needs some occasional change, but running is providing that for me for now since I’m new to it!
I totally understand the need for change. I’ve been feeling it a lot lately but I think that’s because I’m on holidays and I haven’t really done much so I’m a little bit bored. My need for change will probably disappear Monday as soon as I start back at work.
I don’t mind most changes, but I am usually content with how things are and get stuck by inertia. If the MCM relates to the marine corps marathon, you might want your header to reflect that. Or, go with a collage of running and beer!
I like the header. I really want to do a new one too…but just haven’t had the time…heck I don’t think I’ve updated my “races” tab since 2012..ugh. I’m lucky to write a post.
I know it’s just two quick pics, but I like your hair short, but that would be a big change. I consider cutting mine all the time, but then I go back and look at pics when it was short and I just don’t like them…but if you like it short then go for it! It would be a fun change.
