Didn’t I just mention something about flexibility?
Shoo’s dental appointment went faster and better than expected, so I was able to drop him off at preschool on time. Since I only had 16 miles to do (there’s definitely something wrong with that statement) and I was worried about tomorrow’s weather, I decided to do my long run today as originally planned. I raced home, ate half a PB&J, got my stuff together and headed out the door. I had 3 hours and 8 minutes until I had to pick him up.
2 hours 44 minutes later I had 16.1 miles done at an average pace of 10:11!
Mile 1: 10:17
Mile 2: 10:18
Mile 3: 10:04
Mile 4: 9:59
Mile 5: 10:06
Mile 6: 10:10
Mile 7: 10:44 (Gu)
Mile 8: 10:02
Mile 9: 9:53
Mile 10: 9:54
Mile 11: 10:12 (stoplight)
Mile 12: 9:47
Mile 13: 10:56 (Gu)
Mile 14: 10:09
Mile 15: 10:16
Mile 16: 9:57
Despite hills and a few stop lights, I felt like my pace was pretty consistent. With the exception of Mile 12 (where I pushed myself to see what I had left) and Mile 16 (where I was just plain tired), most of the miles were at an easy, not breathing hard pace. My legs got tired by about mile 10, but that didn’t seem to slow me down too much. Unfortunately, 25 minutes from the end of my run, I had to pick Shoo up, so I only managed a couple minutes in the ice bath. I may regret that tomorrow.
But, it’s done and it felt good! Woot!
Just a few more hours left in the nuun giveaway… Winner will likely be announced tomorrow.
Oh my lord, you are inspiring!!! I love that – only 16 miles to do… WOW!!! I can't wait to say something like that. c
Woooooo! Great job! I want to do another marathon SO BAD! I'm even more worked up now than I was before!

"only 16 miles"! I now hate you ;)Great job on the run!
Way to go.
excellent
Yeah, "only" having 16 miles is quite a funny statement! Glad you got it in – sounds like it was a great run for you. Good job! At what mileage will you not skip an ice bath? I'm trying to think ahead for when my runs keep getting longer. Any info would be much appreciated!
Nice work! Glad to know I'm not the only mom out there who does her running in the 'preschool window of time'.I love when it becomes 'only' 16. It's all relative I guess!
wow! what an amazing runner you are!
At least you bathed…
AND that my friend, is why you're so inspirational!!!You ROCK!
Excellent!
I'd love a post or paragraph about the ice bath and how it helps. I need convincing!
you are amazing for doing that long run alone!
one day, when all my kids are in school, I'm going to knock off 16 during the week … for no other reason than you have shown me it's possible.
Awesome that you were able to get that in! Only 16 miles, eh ๐
Oh Wow! That is excellent!Just fitting in a 16 miler before having to pick up Shoo….nice!
Wahoo, awesome job on the 16 miler – that's a great pace!
"only 16 miles…"Love it. Nice job on squeezing in the run!
I totally agree. Running "only" 16 miles is just a a little weird ๐ Great job though.
Total awesomeness! "Only" 16 miles – whatever, you rock! Wahoo!
I don't know how you can just go out and run 16 miles on a whim! It takes me all day to prepare for these runs. :pGreat pace!
Hey! Check out my second post today. The invite in #3 was especially for you. G and I would really love to run with you!
GOOD JOB!! Wow the pressure of knowing you have to get done to pick up your child….not sure I could take it..Hugs to training hard.. You know I have 3 of the blue ice packs from Sports Authority. I plop those down on my knees at night while reading or whatever, even if I cant get in an ice bath the packs on the knees helps.
