This blog is coming to you from the Denver Airport at 4:30am. I just spent an amazing weekend with the best tribe a girl could ask for. The annual Skirt Sports retreat is an amazing and energizing event, made even better by the fact that I get to spend time with some of my closest friends who live in different parts of the country. I will recap the event later, but for now, just know that my cup is full. Speaking of full cups, I’m joining Deb and Coco for a virtual cup (in addition to the copious amount of coffee I need to survive today after my 2:30am wakeup.) I may also be including a few runfessions ala Marcia.

If we were having coffee, I’d tell that I swear that May and June are the longest, most stressful months of the year and I’m pretty sure that the May and June that you have a Junior in high school are the absolute worst. Not only are we dealing with normal end of the year concerts, in school testing, and projects, we are starting the ramp up to senior year. I swear I haven’t been this tired since my kids were infants!

If we were having coffee, I would runfess that running away this weekend was the best thing I’ve done for myself in a while. It’s at a horrible time to do it (senior pictures and subject SATs were this weekend), but I did it anyways. Joining my fellow Skirt Sports Ambassadors for a weekend of Skirt, hiking, running, and shenanigans gave me a lift that I didn’t even realize I needed.

If we were having coffee, I’d also runfess that I packed enough skirts for a small country, but I still bought myself a few “souvenirs” from my trip. I had a few things on my list, but I runfess that I actually bought something I was resisting: the Skirt Sports swim skirt. I usually wear swim shorts, but I couldn’t pass it up. Pro tip: ignore the size on the label and find the size that works for you. (For many, the SS swim stuff is true to size, but the way the skirt is cut required me to go up two sizes to get the right fit over my hips.)

If we were having coffee, I’d tell you that was the first month IN A YEAR that I’ve hit 100 miles. I can’t believe it took me a full year to get back on track after I got injured last April. Before that I had hit 100 miles a month every month for well over a year! Here’s hoping this becomes the norm again, instead of the exception.

If we were having coffee, I’d runfess that I finally caved and allowed Jones to get hissing cockroaches. I NEVER thought I’d be that parent and I actually sent him a text asking him what groceries his cockroaches needed from the store. Who am I? I’ll also runfess that I have a phone full of pictures from him and there was a moment in time where I contemplated Airdropping a picture onto random ambassador’s phones.

Yes, I made that picture small for a reason…
Hope your June has started out well. Fingers crossed that my flight home goes well and I can get in a run this afternoon. But for now, I’m going to go for a walk from one end of the airport to the other to make sure I at least get some movement today.
Hahahahaha, that AirDrop idea would have been hilarious!
So great to see you this weekend!
Safe travels!
Your comment on the swimsuit sizing is why I haven’t bit that particular bullet. I love swim skirts but sizing is such a pain in the ass that I can’t imagine doing it remotely.
Glad you had such a good time at the retreat. I have two races this week that I’ve been saving things new & purple for.
wow hissing cockaroaches sound just horrible! You are a way better mom than I am. Hope the SS retreat was a blast. I am sure that it was! thanks for linking up for coffee
