I feel like I’ve been running pretty much all day. It’s after 10 and I’m just now doing fun stuff on the computer. My day went basically like this: take Jones to camp, take Shoo to camp, run 7 miles, start a load of wash, shower, eat lunch, pick Shoo up from camp, go to playground, pick Jones up from camp, water all the plants in the yard, take the boys to the pool for two hours, give kids baths, make dinner, make lunches, take out recycling, put kids to bed, fold laundry… I could keep going, but I’m exhausted. Tomorrow will be a bit calmer. I only plan to run 4 miles and we will be chillin’ at home after camps. I can’t handle the pool two days in a row.
Crazy day
I had a pretty decent 7 mile run today. It was a bit cooler (high 70s) and I purposely ran slow. I average 9:43 per mile and all of my miles were within 10 seconds of that speed. I borrowed an idea from RunningLaur. Sun just saps my strength, so after the first three miles, I walked about .08 and then ran the rest of the mile, with a goal of each mile being faster than 10 minutes. It worked really well and I didn’t feel as exhausted or dehydrated as I usually do during hot weather running. Not sure if I’ll keep doing that for my long runs this summer, but it definitely helped me today.
I’m sure I had more to say, but suddenly I’m too wiped out to remember…

I'm pooped just reading about your day!
ahhhh I remember well the days of driving in circles. exhausting!another one with the 0.08 mile walking. the walking is great, but the .08 vs .1 is killing me!! LOL
Glad the 7 miler went well and you didn't get zapped by the sun!
The sun definitely makes such a difference in my ability to run well. Glad your mind games worked!
Glad the magic 0.08 interval worked for you! It definitely keeps me going stronger on the long runs overall. And it bugs Lisa 🙂
Whew, you're a busy lady. It's awesome that you make time for your runs though, way to set a good example by making exercise a priority (probably good for your sanity as well:))
Tough day, sister.Time to break into Beer Geek's extra special stash, I'd say.NO, NOT THE PORN!1!
I'm tired after reading about your day. Great job fitting the 7 miles into the schedule and glad to hear the new plan worked for you in the heat!
Way to fit your runs in during hectic schedules!I haven't bit the bullet on the camp thing yet. I know I have to next summer. I just put my kids in preschool two days a week for the summer. I hope things settle down a bit for you.
