I admit it. I’m over winter. Take my Wisconsin girl card, send me south, and call it good.
Ok, maybe it’s not that bad, but I just could not convince myself to run outside on Friday. I.just.could.not. So, I ran 8 miles on an indoor track. 8 laps per mile. There are only two good things I can say about it: 1) I ran each half lap in 40-43 seconds, thereby running my most perfectly paced miles ever and 2) I ran in my new Altra Running One(2) and it was like running on clouds, bouncy minimalist clouds. I’m totally in love.
Saturday morning I skipped my short run so that I could go watch Shoo play indoor soccer. It was an amazing game and he scored the winning goal, so it was totally worth the missed run. Then Beer Geek and I headed to Mad Fox for their Barleywine Festival. Snow was predicted, so I opted to be the designated driver instead of relying on a cab, but we figured we’d be home before the 1-3 inches really became a problem. We had a blast as we have a lot of friends there, but the snow came sooner and heavier than predicted and the drive home was quite the white knuckle drive. (Just for the record, I drive a Honda Pilot (AKA big SUV), with 4WD and I know how to drive in the snow. It was still scary, mostly because of the other drivers and the hills.)
After we got home, I shoveled some snow and then we walked to get Shoo from a friend’s house. Yes, I was all done driving in that stuff. In all, I got a half hour of shoveling and a 2 mile walk, so I’m calling that cross training. Then we opened a beer that was older than our teenager…
And then on Sunday, Virginia pulled it’s usual bi-polar behavior – after weeks of major cold and then 5 inches of snow, it was 45* and sunny! I actually went for a run in my Lotta Breeze capris in the new Escape pattern. I LOVE this new pattern and have actually ordered it in the Happy Girl as well, but snow in Denver + snow in Virginia = my package didn’t arrive in time to run on Sunday. Sad panda face.
Speaking of the Happy Girl, you all know how much I love this skirt. It’s my absolute favorite thing to run in. I wear mine all spring, summer, and fall on their own and then sometimes over tights in the winter. And the new patterns are awesome!!! So, Skirt Sports has agreed to let me give away one! You get to choose any current pattern that is available in your size on the website. And if you can’t wait to see if you win or you want to buy something else, don’t forget to use my 20% off code: SSMCM20

I’m linking up today with Tara over at Running ‘n’ Reading for the Weekend Update.
I am attempting to learn the difference between want and need 🙂 I will share and not enter… But I want 🙂
Hi! I am in NH and feel like you do about this challenging winter–make it stop! 🙂 Saw your post on Twitter and came over to see…have never worn a running skirt so I was intrigued.
Best wishes on making it to spring!
I love their skirts but I can’t afford to buy them 🙁
I too am over this ridiculously crazy weather! Spring needs to get here now!
I would love to try running…in a skirt!
I love the Gym Girl Ultra skirt. My favorite prints right now that I don’t have yet are the Gotham and the Exotic prints.
that skirt is super cute on you!!!! You know my hubby is from Wisconsin and we still own a farm there. If I had a $1 for everytime he said – this would be a warm summer day in Sconsin” I wouldn’t need your sirt discount! HA! Sounds like you had a fun weekend!
The weather on Saturday was RIDICULOUS. And then was more ridiculous on Sunday, although it felt amazing!!
Ooh I also like the Snake Charmer print!
We just got slammed with an ice storm and not much melting is expected today. I’ll be at Disney next week for a conference and I looked up the extended forecast. 80s for highs, and sounds like paradise.
I love the Redemption Capris… any pattern!
It’s hard to pick one pattern! I like the streak one, looks pretty cool.
It has been a rough winter up here in Maine for us outdoor runners! I am totally looking forward to spring too! Love the skirt!
The Soiree Print or the Exotic print look cool
I really like the bright pink one. It’s so cute!
I’m a skirt girl too…. LOVE the Lioness 🙂
I like the Vixen Capri skirt. All winter I’ve been debating whether or not to buy a capri or pants skirt. Now that it’s almost March, maybe I’ll try to snag one on sale in the summer. I’ve never worn a Skirt Sports skirt, but they look great and I’ve seen a lot of positive reviews of them. I think I would go with a black Happy Girl skirt, but then get some patterns and fun colors if I really like it.
I a gym girl ultra girl usually – I have several, but wear my black one the most.
Erika, this is great; many of the ladies I run with in the Hot Legs Run for Fun club love skirts, so I have shared your post in our secret Facebook group. Hope you get some more takers! The weather has been absolutely bananas; thawed out on Saturday, more ice last night and now it’s snowing and I was sent home early from work. Ugh. I’m glad you were able to get a run in outside and enjoy some family time. Thanks so much for linking up with the blog today; hope your week is off to a great start!
I like the Cruiser Bike Knicker Skirt – soiree pattern.
I’ve fallen in love with spin this winter!
I’m digging the Streak and Gotham prints! I wear both shorts and skirts, whatever floats my boat for that day’s run, but this skirt looks awesome!
Yes you are smart not to mess with DC drivers in the snow. They do NOT know what I’m doing. 😉
I could not motivate outside on Friday and I don’t know *how* you forgive yourself giving up on your Saturday run! I’m still not over the fact that I missed my first run today. Flogging, flogging, and more flogging before tomorrow, when I talk to the treadmill again.
DEFINITELY the Happy Girl! 🙂
It does sound like that spring might be on its way – even if the weather’s not totally committed to warmer temperatures yet. I’m the same with summer over here. Totally over it!
I have a zebra patterned Skirt Sports skirt that I love. It looks good with so many bright colors.
I love that you wore the skirt in the snow! Keep your Wisconsin card!
It was definitely a rough week of weather. I think my New Englander card has been taken away from me as well, so don’t feel bad 😉
love the black vinyl print
I don’t have a Skirt Sports anything.. insert really sad panda face. I do love the Arya print.
This Minnesota gal is SO over winter already too! I used to love winter, but as I get older, not so much…
I love Happy Girl skirts- it covers me just right. I only have the black and want to get crazy with some prints! I have to invest in a few as I have recently lost some weight and inches and need a smaller size – it just doesn’t work to be hiking up the skirt as you are trying to run!
I’ve never been a skirt runner, but this looks so adorable… hmmm! I need one!
Love the courage capri!
I love Skirt Sports! I haven’t tried he happy girl skirt but would love to!
I don’t own any running skirts yet, maybe I’ll win 🙂
The pockets sound like a great feature on these skirts!
Oops, forgot to add my fave pattern: streak!
I love the lotta breeze capri!!
I want to keep my legs covered!
Such cute skirts!! I am all kinds of over this weather too…

I would love the plain black. Thank you for the wonderful giveaway.

I like the plain black, or maybe the gotham print, most. I’d like to try running in a skirt.
The Celebration print is my favorite!
I think I’d like the vixen, but I’d be happy with anything!
I like the Snake Charmer print.
Run over to the site right now! Everything in the snake charmer print is on sale!
I loved my Happy Girl, until I shrank out of it! I haven’t replaced it yet, so my Gym Girl Ultra gets the most love.
LOVE the race magnet skirt in exotic print
I love their skirts …. especially the plain black. Yup, boring but it’s my favorite.
I love the running skirt with shorties in red.
