Crazy weekend + Skirt Sports Happy Girl Skirt Giveaway

February 23, 2015 by MCM Mama 57 Comments

I admit it. I’m over winter. Take my Wisconsin girl card, send me south, and call it good.

Ok, maybe it’s not that bad, but I just could not convince myself to run outside on Friday. I.just.could.not.  So, I ran 8 miles on an indoor track. 8 laps per mile. There are only two good things I can say about it: 1) I ran each half lap in 40-43 seconds, thereby running my most perfectly paced miles ever and 2) I ran in my new Altra Running One(2) and it was like running on clouds, bouncy minimalist clouds.  I’m totally in love.

Saturday morning I skipped my short run so that I could go watch Shoo play indoor soccer. It was an amazing game and he scored the winning goal, so it was totally worth the missed run. Then Beer Geek and I headed to Mad Fox for their Barleywine Festival. Snow was predicted, so I opted to be the designated driver instead of relying on a cab, but we figured we’d be home before the 1-3 inches really became a problem.  We had a blast as we have a lot of friends there, but the snow came sooner and heavier than predicted and the drive home was quite the white knuckle drive.  (Just for the record, I drive a Honda Pilot (AKA big SUV), with 4WD and I know how to drive in the snow. It was still scary, mostly because of the other drivers and the hills.)

Mad Fox Barleywine

After we got home, I shoveled some snow and then we walked to get Shoo from a friend’s house. Yes, I was all done driving in that stuff. In all, I got a half hour of shoveling and a 2 mile walk, so I’m calling that cross training. Then we opened a beer that was older than our teenager…

Brookly Monster Ale 2001

And then on Sunday, Virginia pulled it’s usual bi-polar behavior – after weeks of major cold and then 5 inches of snow, it was 45* and sunny! I actually went for a run in my Lotta Breeze capris in the new Escape pattern.  I LOVE this new pattern and have actually ordered it in the Happy Girl as well, but snow in Denver + snow in Virginia = my package didn’t arrive in time to run on Sunday. Sad panda face.

Speaking of the Happy Girl, you all know how much I love this skirt. It’s my absolute favorite thing to run in.  I wear mine all spring, summer, and fall on their own and then sometimes over tights in the winter. And the new patterns are awesome!!!  So, Skirt Sports has agreed to let me give away one! You get to choose any current pattern that is available in your size on the website.  And if you can’t wait to see if you win or you want to buy something else, don’t forget to use my 20% off code: SSMCM20

Disclaimer: I’m a Skirt Sports Ambassador and get a discount. Skirt Sports is providing the skirt I am giving away. All opinions are my own and I’ve been singing the praises of the Happy Girl since long before I became an ambassador. This post contains affiliate links.

We just got slammed with an ice storm and not much melting is expected today. I’ll be at Disney next week for a conference and I looked up the extended forecast. 80s for highs, and sounds like paradise.

I like the Vixen Capri skirt. All winter I’ve been debating whether or not to buy a capri or pants skirt. Now that it’s almost March, maybe I’ll try to snag one on sale in the summer. I’ve never worn a Skirt Sports skirt, but they look great and I’ve seen a lot of positive reviews of them. I think I would go with a black Happy Girl skirt, but then get some patterns and fun colors if I really like it.

Erika, this is great; many of the ladies I run with in the Hot Legs Run for Fun club love skirts, so I have shared your post in our secret Facebook group. Hope you get some more takers! The weather has been absolutely bananas; thawed out on Saturday, more ice last night and now it’s snowing and I was sent home early from work. Ugh. I’m glad you were able to get a run in outside and enjoy some family time. Thanks so much for linking up with the blog today; hope your week is off to a great start!

Yes you are smart not to mess with DC drivers in the snow. They do NOT know what I’m doing. 😉
I could not motivate outside on Friday and I don’t know *how* you forgive yourself giving up on your Saturday run! I’m still not over the fact that I missed my first run today. Flogging, flogging, and more flogging before tomorrow, when I talk to the treadmill again.

I love Happy Girl skirts- it covers me just right. I only have the black and want to get crazy with some prints! I have to invest in a few as I have recently lost some weight and inches and need a smaller size – it just doesn’t work to be hiking up the skirt as you are trying to run!
