Do I look different?

March 11, 2009 by MCM Mama 15 Comments

I certainly feel different LOL.  The new Mac is awesome, but my fingers have a steep learning curve with the laptop keyboard.  I also got an ipod and so far have loaded ABBA, Air Supply, Uncle Tupelo, The Replacements, Deana Carter, and Paul Westerberg.  I need to load some Fugazi and then I have at least enough to keep me happy for a few days LOL.  (Yes, I know my music tastes are eclectic.   Beer Geek cringed when I mentioned Air Supply and ABBA LOL).

The shorts shopping didn’t go so hot.  I did find some acceptable ones at Old Navy that I’ll likely end up buying, but nothing that I loved.  Don’t they design shorts for the hourglass figure anymore?  I did score some really nice winter running jackets at Sports Authority.  So nice, in fact, that I may wear them more with jeans than when running.   And I did discover a bathing suit style that works for my body.  I tried on a halter style top with some low cut board shorts.   I’m short waisted, but this made my torso look much longer.  That, combined with all the toning I’ve been doing, made for a really awesome look for me.  The bottoms didn’t fit quite right, so I didn’t buy the suit, but now I know what style to try on at other stores.
I was in a crappy mood this afternoon, so I did a half hearted run on the treadmill.  3 miles in 28:15.  Eh.  Tomorrow is supposed to be nice out, but I think Beer Geek will be getting home late.  That means my last pre-race run will be Thursday, which will be a chilly day.  Oh, and the current forecast for the race is in the high 30s.  That’s chilly, but better than hot.
Maybe tomorrow I’ll delve into my reasoning for not aiming for a sub-2.  Or maybe I’ll just talk about all the chocolate I’ve been eating in the name of carbo loading…

I hate bathing suit shopping! I do love board shorts, tho. They do a great job hiding those parts that women usually try to hide. Have fun with your new MAC and ipod!

I like wearing board shorts no matter what swimsuit I’m wearing. Probably doesn’t help the looking-like-a-boy issue, but they’re so much more comfy!

Beer Geek cringed when I mentioned Air Supply and ABBA LOL).I have to confess, I lost a little respect for Beer Geek for not hurling when he heard you mention Air Supply and ABBA – ABBA in particular, since they are an insult to both music and palindromes. O, yeah – and fashion. There goes joySashaY again, claiming to look like a BOY, which is a LIE because I’ve seen pix of her and she’s all hubba-hubba HAWT!1!(And not in a boy way!)@Jes – if you have to ask …

You look GREAT in your new Mac. :)I am shameless about my taste in music– at least you throw a few decent things in there. And chocolate cravings? Does this mean you were brave enough to go bathing suit/shorts shopping while PMSing? If so: you can do ANYTHING, including a sub 2 hour half. Seriously, that takes guts!

Well thank you for shopping yesterday. Did you see what you did for the stock market? LOLI usually can find good basics at JC Penney. I found shorts & swim suits there last year. 30s will be great for your race. I just hope it's not windy!

I never thought I’d see Westerberg and ABBA in the same sentence

A big “eeeek” to shorts and bathing suit shopping. I’m glad you found something that works for you though. Enjoy your new tech toys!

I went to Old Navy on Monday and got a crap load of clothes for only $130! I love Old Navy!! I got some shorts, too…which I really need because I literally have 3 pairs of non-running shorts. I wish they had an option between “up your butt” and “below your knees.” What ever happened to mid-length shorts??

Woo! Glad you love the mac.I am getting sort of meh about my half marathon too. Now that I have dropped to the half, I am just sort of ho-hum about it. I was hoping for a sub-2 but now I feel like I just want to get it over with.PS. Air Supply = Awesomeness
