Drinking coffee by myself

April 5, 2020 by MCM Mama 2 Comments

This weekend is the coffee date link up with Deb and Coco. Sadly, given the current pandemic, there will be no in person coffee dates.

If we were having coffee, I’d tell you that I hosted a “Corona Relay” this weekend. Every runner had to run 3 legs in 24-36 hours. I managed 13.3 miles (math error, oops) in 24 hours. I had to do the last 3 on my treadmill because it was mid afternoon on a gorgeous day. The number of people walking past my house was ridiculous.

If we were having coffee, I’d tell you that I’m on day 11 of a run streak. I am happier on days when I run, so now I’m running every day. Today was leg day, so I only got in a mile and I did it on a T intersection near my house. I had to run it 8 times to get a mile…

If we were having coffee, I’d tell you that I’m obsessed with the Quarantine Backyard Ultra. The runners are doing 4.17 miles every hour on the hour. It started with around 1300 people and at hour 30, there are 33 people still going – two of whom are local to me! (Also, one guy did 20 hours of it while running around his living room. I will never complain again about running loops. Ever.)

If we were having coffee, I’d tell you that for the most part we are doing well. Beer Geek is insanely busy, but able to work from home. I lost my shit last Friday, but after a day of only connecting with people I wanted to connect with, I’m in a much better place. Going forward, I will be much more protective of my emotional energy.

I hope you are all doing well. Is there anyway I can support you remotely? I have a little bit of extra time on my hands these days…

I heard about people running ultras in their backyards. Thankfully I am not that crazy! I am running up and down the same few streets behind our house. Running alone is not as much fun is it? Sounds like your relay was fun-great idea. Thanks for linking up for coffee!

Congrats on the Corona Relay – I was wondering where you were for our coffee happy hour.
I think my long runs are moving to weekdays to avoid the park on spring weekend days since I’m not disciplined enough to get out early.
