Over the last year, I’ve found myself focusing more and more on making better choices – fewer processed foods, products with fewer questionable chemicals, and products that are better for the environment. It’s not really a “new” thing for me – I work for a company that specializes in assisting organizations that promote water conservation and care of the environment. And when my now teens were babies, every choice I made was researched and leaned towards my “crunchy granola chick” side. I made their baby food. I packed their lunches in reusable bags and containers. They only wore Robeez and other soft soled shoes. Heck, Shoo was even born at home. (Let’s not talk about the fact that now my teens would happily choose chips and soda over anything healthy. We’ll just focus on the fact that I gave them a good start. LOL)
So, when Eco Soapr reached out to me about their product and upcoming Kickstarter, I was pretty excited. It hits a soft spot in my little green heart:
- It uses bar soap – which has less packaging and lasts longer than liquid soap and in general is better for the environment
- It allows me to use my preferred brand of soap, which in my case happens to be a Beautycounter soap
- It creates less mess than a regular bar of soap in the shower or on the counter. (I mentioned I have teens, right? Boy teens at that.)
Ecosoapr takes your favorite bar soap and creates flakes that quickly turn into lather in your damp hand, leaving no mess behind and using only as much as you need. Simply place your wet hand under the dispenser and wait for your soap.

The convenient dispenser can be set on the counter or mounted to a wall. It’s rechargeable and will last for several weeks between charges, so it doesn’t have to be near an outlet. (But it’s not recommended to put the current model IN the shower due to potential water issues with the battery. However, I believe the company is working on 100% waterproofed version.)

Features of the Eco Soapr:
- Long-lasting rechargeable battery
- Infrared proximity sensor
- Quiet, electrical motor
- Durable housing materials
- An LED light that indicates when it’s time for a new bar
- Countertop or convenient wall placement
- Accept the majority of popular soap bar sizes

The founders of Eco Soapr stumbled upon an old soap shaver while traveling and loved the idea, but wanted to modernize it. Currently, the Eco Soapr has gone through several rounds of testing and is ready to be manufactured. That’s where you come in!
Eco Soapr Kickstarter launches on January 15th, with a goal of raising $50,000 to manufacture their product. Go to the Eco Soapr Kickstarter to sign up to be notified and have the opportunity to get in at the lowest price point! Once the Kickstarter launches on Tuesday, head over there and pledge your support. And by signing up on the Kickstarter, you are entered into a giveaway for one once the product is manufactured!
Obviously, since the product is still in prototype, I haven’t actually tried it, but I love the idea of it and it gets good reviews from its testers. And I’m completely in favor of anything that decreases the use of plastic in my home. I can’t wait to get my hands on one!

What a fun idea. It wouldn’t work for me as I have just a pedastal sink, but once they’re shower proof I’d totally look into this
My counter in the bathroom is teeny, so I think I’d have to mount it to the wall. But if it helps with the mess and clutter, I’m on board!
I definitely lean towards the crunchy granola side as well, haha. I love the sound of this! :]
