When I started writing this blog, I was training for my first full marathon as a stay at home mom to two young kids. This was back in the days when blogs were basically journals and I chronicled my challenges with training while parenting. While I’ve moved away from talking about my kids much, you all have been here for a huge part of the ride. My kids are both (nearly) adults now!
This year marks my last back to school in the local schools. Shoo is a senior. (Jones is a senior in college!). I’m not ready. But they are. Except, of course, this is the week of all the shopping.
Jones is pretty easy – most of our purchases are snacks LOL. I mean, isn’t that what all college students want? Free food! My living room was a depository of college packing until I picked up the van last Tuesday. It definitely got worse before it got better.
Shoo is a little more challenging. The little stinker keeps s.l.o.w.l.y outgrowing his clothes. (Ok, not so little – he’s taller than me by a good bit now.) I’m constantly replacing nearly new adidas shoes with a half size bigger, because I keep thinking he’s done growing and he’s not… Thankfully, we don’t have to buy new adidas shirts or shorts this year, but I can tell you right now, I’m not buying pants until the first cold spell. He’s been known to jump a size (or 3) between the start of the school year and his birthday in October. Thankfully he prefers to wear shorts as long as he possibly can.
And because nothing is simple around here, I started a new job last week. It’s part time and mostly from home, but I’m going to have to figure out some nice tops for Zoom calls. It’s kind of weird to be heading back into the professional world after years of being able to wear running clothes for work.
Are you dealing with back to school or is September just another month of the year for you? It’s hard to believe that after many many years of life revolving around the school schedule, we are nearly done. Maybe that means I can finally finish half marathons in all 50 states…
