Since I have no long run scheduled for tomorrow, I’m left with some time on my hands. Granted, I could spend my time doing housework (it’s currently impossible to walk across the playroom and the dining room rug crunches when you step on it) or reading (I have a HUGE pile of books and magazines to read right now) or even just relaxing. Instead, I have a big day of shopping planned.
Beer Geek and I are buying a Mac tomorrow. I am SO excited! We’ve been discussing this for years and he’s finally willing to take the plunge. While there, I hope to join the rest of modern society and also get an ipod. I’m not planning to run with it, but I want to put a docking station in the kitchen so I can listen to music when I’m cooking. (What? You thought I’d change my running style? Maybe someday.)
Then I get to shop for my second least favorite thing: shorts (my least favorite, as you might guess, is a bathing suit.) I have two sets of shorts right now: the ones I bought after Jones was born that are now 7 years old and falling apart from so much use and the ones I bought after Shoo was born that, well, don’t fit. I was super skinny after Shoo was born, thanks to multiple food allergies on his part that had my diet down to four foods at one point. I’m back to my normal weight, plus despite the fact that I run long distances, my thigh muscles are more similar in size and shape to a sprinter, ie pretty darn bulky. I’m just hoping that there are some new styles out this year. Last year’s options were bermudas (by the time those fit my thighs, I can fit two of me in the waist band) and short shorts (um, I’m a late 30s mom of two. I’m sooo NOT wearing short shorts). So, wish me luck as we are going to Key West in April, so I absolutely need to find some.
After the torture, I mean, short shopping, I’m planning to finish my purchases for the beer basket. I have the 12 beers and a few cool trinkets, so I just need to find a basket and a few things to pull it all together. I’ll post a picture and a list of the contents once I get it all pulled together.
Oh, and while I’m throwing money around, I’m also planning to throw some towards the Arthritis Society in support of Reese’s Run!
Ooo I’m so jealous of the time to go shopping! And a new mac! Have fun, even with the shorts hunt.
I hate shorts. I have yet to find a pair that are flattering on anybody older than 11. I go with skirts and dresses instead.Congrats on the Mac and (hopefully) the iPod!!
ooooh! Enjoy the mac (love mine…) and possibly your ipod! i’m not a fan of shorts, but discovered running skirts last year and love ’em! Can’t wait till it’s warm enough to wear them again.
Happy shopping! I hate shopping for shorts in the spring – the pastiness of my legs in the harsh light of the fitting room makes my skin crawl. But at least you have a fun trip to look forward to!
I’m not a fan of shorts shopping either, but I kinda like the bermuda style myself.
Your playroom sounds like mine. I would be super-pissed if I end up injuring one of my feet on one of those daggone toys instead of running.
Ooo can you let me know if you like your Mac? I want to get Hubs one. Thanks so much for supporting our event!
Good luck shopping! Hope you find something you like.
Excuse me, I’m busy stimulating the economyThat’s exactly what I always say when someone barges in on me in the bathroom and I don’t have enough time to get “The Economy” (which IS economy-sized! knowhatimean?) back in my pants in time!Hey, don’t blame me, sister. You’re the one who brought up “stimulating the economy”! I’m just following your lead.
I totally want a mac. You have to start video blogging just because you can. :o)
Ohhhhh I hate, hate, hate swimsuit shopping (probably the only “shopping” thing I hate LOL) Good luck with that chica!
Good thing you have the Mac purchase to balance out the agony of shorts shopping. Good luck!
Ha! Sprinter’s legs–that’s the excuse I’m using from now on! BTW, totally jealous of your Mac.
Oooh, have fun shopping. You’ll love the mac. We have three in our house. I could never use a pc. Once you go mac, etc…We also have a docking station downstairs for our music. It’s perfect, sounds great and doesn’t waste any space.
