I don’t know how people commute to work. I drove an hour plus each way on Monday night for a work event and I’m TIRED! I mean, I used to commute about an hour, but most of that was on the metro and somehow that’s easier than driving. So apologies if this post is a bit loopy (or as goofy as the title LOL).
Anyways, it’s Tuesdays on the Run again and today’s topic is “your favorite medal”. I have kind of a lot of medals (with 46 half marathons and 5 full marathons under my belt, one would expect that.) Even so, there are a few that I love.
You know one of those is MCM (ok, maybe 2). I’m kind of excited to add a third one this year…
And the Mainly Marathon medals that just keep getting longer… 5,5,6 and now 7 in May!
And Ragnar (because they can open beer…)
And I have a ton of others to love…
But the most unique one I have (and therefore one of my favorites) is my medal from the Oak Barrel half. It was made from a Jack Daniels barrel and 6 years later, still smells slightly like bourbon.
Tell me about your favorite medal. Love it because it’s unique or cool looking or because of the race it came from? I’d love to hear about some cool medals to earn – I still have 20+ states to go…

Wow, you have a TON of great medals. That really long one is amazing, I have never seen one like it.
I would love to do a Ragnar one day… but they have yet to come to France. Otherwise, I covet a Disney medal…

I love how unique each one is! I think that makes the best collection!
Wow you have a ton of medals. I on the other hand never could seem to get my hands around many of them and I actually lost one or two along the way.
That Jack Daniels medal is amazing. As is that REALLY long one you’re wearing! I really want to add some Disney medals to my collection. I’m thinking the Dopey Challenge at some point! I’d also like to add a 70.3 World Championship medal but that is going to require a LOT of hard work, ha ha.
I love your medal collection, especially the the one from Ragnar Relay!

Great collection! It’s amazing how so many races have become a series. Great marketing if I do say so myself.

Yeah, I want cool medals too! Who doesn’t?
Unfortunately my fav is the RW Heartbreak Hill, and they only held that once. So glad I insisted that I do it!

Nice garb and bling, girlie! Though I love sleep far too much to ever participate in RAGNAR, I <3 those medals so hard.
I’m grateful I don’t have a big commute, and I don’t have to use the highways. When I commuted into Boston, I used the T, and it was easier than dealing with all that driving.
I love how the Ragnar medals makeup a picture when they’re put together.

Wow! That oak barrel medal is awesome! I also have the MCM medals on my list too. Love that they’re so detailed now!

I love seeing everyone’s different medals…races have gotten so creative with their designs! One of my favorite medals was from the Philly Rock ‘n Roll 5K in 2014. It was gorgeous!

Wow, you have a lot of amazing medals. I don’t have any that are REALLY different from the normal medals, but I do really like my marathon medals. 🙂

I love your collection and the stories behind the medals. I think Big Sur has a unique medal if you are willing to run those challenging hills! My favorite medal in my collection would have to be my Boston Marathon medal due to the difficulty in getting to the start line!

Okay, definitely want the Ragnar medal! And I think my favorite medal of the moment is the one from my first marathon. 🙂

This is a fun topic – I have so many great medals!
My all time favorite would have to be Walt Disney World Marathon 2014. Not only is it an AWESOME medal (seriously – I feel like an Olympic champion with that thing on), but it was my first Marathon, so it’s got special meaning as well).
Aside from that, I got a really neat handmade one at Loveland Fall Classic Marathon last September which I thought was really cool (that was the one I ran the day after we met at the Skirt Sports Boobie Run!). And just some other cool ones to note: Route 66 Marathon, Phoenix Marathon, Leadville Trail Marathon.

I definitely need a bourbon smelling medal! Your linked ones are very cool; I don’t think I have any that link together (yet!).

So far I haven’t repeated any big races. The ones that have tempted me are in Florida not local.

You’ve got to have a lot of wall space for those mainly marathon medals! Awesome!

That MCM medal is big time on my bucket list 😉 I don’t really a favorite, but definitely have a lot of special ones…all with sentimental value (and some are just drop-dead gorgeous).

You’ve got some pretty awesome medals. All these medal posts are giving me medal envy and I don’t even like medals! Lol! How does that even happen!?
