I’m not gonna lie. Our vacation was AMAZING. But I’ve been home since Sunday and I’m still struggling to recover. The almost 16 hour flight from Sydney to Houston, coupled with the layover and then 3.5 hour flight from Houston to DC wore me out completely. Add in the fact that it’s literally day and night difference in time (14 hour difference) and I’ve got the worst case of jetlag I’ve ever experienced. The first couple of days I also kept having issues with equilibrium. (You know how you feel the world is moving when you get off of a boat? I had that for about 36 hours after I got off the plane.) On the bright side, I’ve been waking up at 5:30am every morning, so I’ve gotten some early runs in. On the not so bright side, that means I’ve fallen asleep at lots of random times in random places. But I’d totally go through that again to get to visit Australia and New Zealand again. So much left to see!
Auckland Sky Tower
Hobbiton (the set for the Hobbit movies)
Kuirau Park geysers
Finish line of the Women’s Half Marathon in Auckland (recap coming next week)
Sydney Opera House
I’m joining Running on Happy and Fairytales and Fitness for the Friday Five 2.0 linkup. Hopefully I’ll be back to normal next week!
I always find going back home, and forward in time (for me) is the hardest. When we took a family trip to Hawaii in 2007, I ended up taking 3 naps the day we got back, AND a full night’s sleep.
love all of your photos! Can’t wait to hear about the race. Fun that you were able to set that up while away
Awesome pics! I’d love to visit Australia and New Zealand someday!
Someday . . . sounds like an amazing trip!
Both these countries are so special to me. I spent four years of my life in New Zealand as a little girl when my dad was studying! And my husband (then boyfriend) studied in Australia so I spent many holidays there too!
