I’ve only run 3 miles in the last four days and I’m starting to feel, well, just kind of blah. I’ve been eating too much most days and even when I eat a reasonable amount, too much of it is cookies and other not so healthy stuff. And water? What’s that? All I’ve been drinking is beer, wine, coffee and soda. So, even though I haven’t actually gained much this holiday season, I’m feeling way too fluffy and beginning to get the “I need to run or I’m going to hurt someone” feeling.
In addition to all the holiday stuff, yesterday we had the pleasure of flying home. Our flight was 3 hours late and then I had to wait an extra hour and a half for our luggage. Our airline had three flights coming from Milwaukee here and they mixed up the luggage carts between them. Lovely. And I’m an idiot and packed Jones’ pillow case and stuffed animals in the checked luggage. Let’s just say that no one would have gotten any sleep last night if I hadn’t stayed at the airport and gotten the bags.
Thankfully, we are home and the weather is supposed to be a lovely 50 degrees tomorrow, so I should be able to run after Beer Geek comes home from work. Now if I could just get myself to hit the “order” button on the races in Delaware and Minnesota…
And maybe I should work on some goals for 2009 ’cause I’m a woman who needs goals. I think I’m almost as “lost” now that I’ve finished the 1000 miles as I was when I finished the marathon.
glad you guys made it home safely. it’s so hard to stay focused when there is no specific thing you’re training for, holidays, traveling, and just being outside of your routine. Don’t worry, it’ll all fall back into place 🙂
I say its time to plan your 2009 race schedule!! LOL Insane cycle….
I hear you about needing goals to de-fluff. Now time to look at those goals & start actually working on them :)Sorry to hear about the traveling woes. Luggage troubles are baaaadd.
Glad you made it home. Holiday airport traffic was a mess due to weather issues all over the country…so really 3 hrs late flight and some extra time waiting for luggage isn’t too bad. It’s almost a new month and a new year…you can start fresh!! WoooHoo!
I think the whole post holiday food overload and lack of exercise is pretty common – just got to get out there and go for a run. I too am forcing myself to chug the water now that I am back at work. I’ll be looking forward to seeing your 2009 goals!
A belated congrats on finishing 1,000. I’m almost there! I will gladly take a couple days break from running after the New Year. I see nothing wrong with beer, wine and coffee, but I’m wondering where are the distilled spirits?
There is something about knowing you are training or going for a goal that gets you out the door.
