Feetures Socks review and giveaway!

April 22, 2015 by MCM Mama 93 Comments

Thanks so much for your support on yesterday’s post!  If anyone is interested in hearing what steps I took to make the chances of PPD smaller with Shoo, let me know. I’d be happy to share.

feetures socks review giveaway

Today let’s talk about SOCKS! Most of us wear them and they can totally make or break a run. Am I right?

Luckily, I was introduced to Features socks a while back and I’ve been loving them ever since. One of the best things about their socks? There are so many options!  I think I have a pair of every kind of No Tab socks and one pair of the compression socks.

So, what do all of their socks have in common?

  • Y-heel construction
  • High density knitting
  • Seam free toe
  • Power bands of lycra to contour to your foot

All of the above combine to create a sock that is comfortable and stays in place during your run.

feetures-lucky13

So, let’s talk about the options. Feetures offers 3 different thicknesses – ultra light (super thin and great for keeping your feet cool), light (which offers a little extra protection in high impact areas), and heavy cushion (which is great for when you need a heavier, warmer sock – wish I’d had a pair of those this winter.)  In their regular socks, Feetures also offers High Performance which hugs your foot, Elite which is constructed to add support where it’s needed the most, and Elite Merino+ which includes wool and bamboo and is designed to keep your feet warm in wet, cool conditions.  Each “style” is available in both the ultra light and light options (only the Elite Merino+ is available in the heavy cushion). So.many.options.

feetures socks

As I mentioned I have one pair of each kind and I like them all for different things. I think perhaps the one I like the most is the new Elite Merino+ ultra light. Features sent this one and the Elite Merino+ light this winter for me to try out. I really loved them both, but the ultra light fit better in my Altras.  The key thing though was that they both kept my feet warm in the ridiculous cold and wet winter that we had. I usually have lots of problems with frozen toes in the winter and I had zero issues, thanks to these socks. My only disappointment was that they sent me the No Show Tab socks and my ankles were cold. Next winter I’m buying myself some of the quarter socks and crew socks to keep warmer!

I was also sent a pair of the Graduated Compression Knee High socks. These are awesome!  They have the perfect amount of compression and just the right amount of cushion in the foot to be a perfect. I’ve run several of my long runs this winter in them and they are my new favorite. I have yet to race in them but I’m sure they will be awesome. And who can say no to bright pink (or bright yellow…) LOVE.

Feetures Compression

Here’s the thing – I have quite a few pairs (although right at the moment I seem to have one of each pair – how DOES that happen???) and I was sent a couple of new pairs before I had to withdraw from being a ZOOMA Annapolis ambassador. Features was kind enough to let me keep them, so I’m giving them away.  Yes, I really am that nice. ;o)  Since they are in my possession, there are only two options: an orange High Performance Light Cushion pair and a purple High Performance Ultra Light pair. Both are size medium, which is women’s size 7-9.5 in shoes.

Cool! I’ve never tried these– I typically have Reebok thin socks for weights and spinning, but use adidas thicker socks for running (like you say, different thicknesses for different activities!). THese look and sound great, and I really like the colors, too!
