This week, Jones is attending a computer camp. He’s loving it. He’s learning all sorts of things I don’t understand.
I, on the other hand, am not loving this week.
Why? His camp is a 50 minute drive away. So, I have two options: drive 50 minutes 4 times a day or drive 50 minutes 2 times, but have to kill 8 hours away from my parents’ house.
Monday I chose the “kill 8 hours” option and spent that time test driving cars to replace my Civic. While it was time well spent (I decided which car and even did some negotiating), it was EXHAUSTING. It didn’t help that the last salesman had the personality of a wet sponge and knew less about the car than I did. I walked out of that dealership completely drained. (And since I know someone will ask, I’m planning to purchase the Kia Forte.) Once I got home, I was useless. I did pretty much nothing all evening.
Tuesday, I chose the drive back and forth option. (Luckily, thus far I’ve conned my parents into taking turns going with me, so I’ve only actually driven one leg.) So today was: drive in, stop by a car dealership so my mom could see the Forte, drive out, work, research prices, contact dealers, work some more, drive in to get Jones, drive right back out, eat, work some more…
You’ll notice I make no mention of working out on Monday or during the day on Tuesday. In fact, I almost did nothing on Tuesday (at least on Monday we did some walking on campus). Finally at 10pm, I pulled up the 1000s workout on pinterest. I’ll admit it was more like 500s, but I managed an intense 20 minute workout and called it good.
Some days you just have to take what you can get.
Today is another drive in, out, in, out day, but I have a run penciled in for during the middle of the day.
I need it – I think my butt is becoming “car seat” shaped…
You’re such a good mom to do that, I can’t imagine that commute all the time!
