Yes, it’s nearly that time of year again! Time to jump on the Runner’s World Run Streak bandwagon. While I will never be a long term streaker, I love using this particular streak to help me get back into running.
Or, in my case, 45 days of AWESOME, since I’ve run the last five days and intend to run again on Wednesday. But I’m down with that and my “rest day” AKA 1 mile day will likely be Thursday anyways. Jones and I are volunteering at the local Turkey Trot instead of running it, so I need to squeeze a mile in between that and when we need to be at dinner.
I’ve been slacking since Marine Corps Marathon – I’m not sure I’ve run longer than 4 miles on any one run since then. So, once again, I’ll be using the #RWrunstreak as a warm up to training for my spring races. It’s nice to get back in the habit of working out regularly, even though I have no intention of continuing to streak after New Year’s.
Speaking of spring, I need to start figuring out my races. I’ve not raced a lot this fall – Marine Corps Marathon was my only long race and I have only one more short race, the Great Chocolate Race, left. I have a tentative plan of running the Mainly Marathons Heartland Series this year, but that’s not until the end of May. This girl can’t go that long between races!
What races would you recommend near DC? Got a favorite in Missouri (the state that will be all by itself once I do Heartland)? And will you be joining me in streaking???
Nope, sorry, not a streaker (no one wants that image in their head, LOL!).
Haven’t done Missouri so can’t help you out there. I still have a few states left within driving distance, so of course I’m doing NOLA next. 🙂
Sounds like a fun way to stay motivated through the holiday season! I’ve never streaked before! Taking it a bit easy now after NYC.
No streaking for me! I don’t want to wake the sleeping beast (aka my plantar fascia).
So I kind of struggle with this every year. My body does not like to run everyday and I try to take a full day off each week so I do a workout streak instead of a run streak. I will do yoga on my day off. Good luck w the streak!
I’d LOVE to join you in streaking, but I’ll have to be a late-comer. I’m in a necessary side-lined (recovery) status from my marathon a few days ago (Route 66 in Tulsa). I’ve done the Streak for the past 3 (or 4?) years…..I’m not a streaker, either, but like the short-term aspect of the RWrunstreak. Good luck!
Hmmm I don’t see myself streaking, but what a cool idea! I thought I was doing pretty well planning for 2017, but around this week I’m starting to feel like I’ haven’t planned out enough races. I also don’t have a Spring marathon so that’s probably playing into it. I don’t know much about DC area races, but I bet there are a ton of great ones!
Not a streaker, in the traditional or running sense. A) too cold (the traditional sense) and b) I can’t afford to break! But good luck and I hope you find the motivation you’ve been looking for!
Good luck, I stopped streaking because I tend to get injured.
I’ve never participated in a run streak – but I already missed this one 😉 lol but yeah I’m afraid of committing to it! But I do want to continue running throughout the winter – that’s always when I end up not doing much of anything and losing the hard earned fitness from the summer and fall.
I don’t know of many races near DC, but come on out to Cali! This is one of the best places to run throughout the winter since the sun is always shining!
