I was exhausted when I woke up this morning, thanks to a very intense thunderstorm last night that kept me up past midnight. My tummy was less than happy for some reason. The typical Virginia humidity had returned. My legs are still a bit sore/tired. Needless to say, when I met up with my running friends/clients, I was not exactly in the best of moods. But I got out there and tucked myself into the back of the pack and just ran. And I’m sure it will come as no surprise to any of you that I was much happier when I was done and able to focus on the cool stuff that’s going on in my life.
Some of you already know, but I found out on Wednesday night that I’ve been chosen as a Fitfluential Ambassador for Washington DC. I’m really, really excited to be part of such an awesome group of people. I’m totally in awe of some of the women who were chosen and I hope this means I’ll actually get to meet them at some point. I don’t know what to expect yet, but I’ve decided to step outside my safe little box and just enjoy the adventure. ;o) (Missed this? Here are my slideshow and video pieces of the application.)
In other good news, I found a babysitter for Saturday night. Only other moms would really understand that yes, that is nearly as exciting as Fitfluential LOL. Between Beer Geek’s travel schedule and kid activities, I feel like I’ve hardly seen my husband in weeks. I’m looking forward to a nice dinner and drinks and conversation without interruption. (Honestly, I’d be happy with a hot dog and coke from 7-11 if it meant time alone with my husband LOL.)
My legs are still not great, but I learned something really interesting today. I ran 4.75 miles at my clients’ pace and then finished up another almost mile and a half with my co-coach. She’s a fast runner, with an incredible natural gait. She’s also a Vibram/barefoot runner. I found that when I matched my cadence to hers, I could run pain free and faster without feeling like I was pushing myself. I think I need to focus on upping my cadence instead of specifically doing speed work for a while and see what that does for me.
So, those are some good things in my life right now! What’s going on in yours? Hope you have a lovely weekend planned!

Good things all around! Interesting thoughts on cadence – definitely seems to make sense! Our clinic instructor has been playing music with a certain bpm and asking us to run to it back and forth… we must look crazy but it's a neat idea!
Congrats on being a Fitbassidor!
Congratulations on becoming a Fitfluential Ambassador! So proud of all my blog friends who were chosen.
Great news all around! Congrats!Sweet score on a good sitter for a date night. Is it wrong to use my oldest as the sitter so Hubbs and I can go out Saturday…for Father's day? He can do something with the kids on Sunday, right? heeheehee
Congrats on being chosen as Fitfluential Ambassador! And I hope you have fun on Saturday night! 🙂

Congrats! We've done that hot dog and a coke at 7-11 date! hope you get to enjoy a fun time with your guy!
Congratulations! I'm confident you'll be an outstanding ambassador!
Congratulations. So glad you got this.
congrats on being chosen as an ambassador! I wanted to apply but didn't have time to put all the stuff together. Apparently though, I must just be lazy since you had the time to do it and I'm sure I'm not nearly as busy as you are! Have a great weekend!
Congrats on being ambassador! I think the cadence thing is correct the faster I go the less sore I am usually. I get super sore slowing it down. I babysit and let me tell you the moms are ALWAYS like thank god a break! And usually the kids are amazing and I am like nope I get it… I do worry I will have one not come home sometime though 😉 I also wrote about how it was a good life despite unemployment right now.
Congrats again on being selected!!!Interesting about the cadence. I need to try more of that. I look at some people as they whiz by me and wonder how they can look so relaxed going so fast. Have a great date night!
Congrats on Fitfluential! Have fun on your date!
