My favorite race of the year is a local 10K. I can walk to it, it’s a reasonable distance, it’s a challenging course, and it’s easy for Beer Geek and the boys to see me at the finish line. Win, win all around.
I just got an email today that advertised this year’s race. Same weekend, same location, but it’s a half marathon this year. Huh? OK, I can run a half marathon (no, really, I can LOL), but now I have back to back halfs in May. Or I would if I hadn’t decided today to find out about transferring my Marine Corps Historic Half bib or saving it for next year. Life gets crazy in the spring with soccer and school stuff and neighborhood stuff and our anniversary, etc. so I just am not feeling the love of two half marathons. I only signed up for the MC one because at the time it was the only May half “near” my house (it’s about an hour away).
I’m feeling much better today. *Knock wood* I appear not to have gotten the nasty version of the cold that Beer Geek got. I ran an easy three on the treadmill (28:15). I wanted to go outside, but was afraid the windy 22 degree weather might be more than my slightly irritated lungs could handle. This weekend is supposed to be in the mid 50s, so I intend to get some nice outside runs done.
glad you’re feeling better! back to back Hm’s would be a challenge with everything you’d have going on, but you would still rock them both! 😀
So are you able to transfer/save your MC half? I hear ya about life getting a little too busy. The one you can walk to is a great win-win!
a half within walking distance sounds great. hope you work things out so you only have one. if you can transfer registration for the other one to next year or to another runner, that sounds like a good plan
Hmm, that’s interesting they would change to a straight HM and not still have the 10K too! Whatever you decide, I’m sure you’ll do great!
I’m glad you’re feeling better! I don’t blame you for hesitating to run 2 HM so close to each other. Life is busy enough… go with your gut!
That’s nice that you can transfer your bib to the next year for the MC half!
Glad you are feeling better. Hope you’re able to transfer the MC half . . . although I’m sure you would have no problem doing back to backs!
Hey! My posts are no longer showing up as “linked to”s on your blog! Woo-hoo! I’m kinda glad YOU feel better, sister, but I’m REALLY glad your BLOG is over whatever illness it was that was making it say these terrible, terrible things about me, like … that I had linked to it. Because that’s the kind of defamation no no amount of beer can make stop hurting. Yet.But I plan to try more beer on the hurt tonight. Because, face it, there’s nothing beer can’t cure.
That’s wacky that they just up and changed to a half-marathon, hope you get it worked out.
10k to a 1/2 seems like a big change. Good thing you can transfer your MCHH bib. Glad you’re feeling better– enjoy the warmer weather this weekend!
Bummer about the race. I hate when life changes. :o)Keep drinking that oj and get well soon!
Yes, I don’t think I’d want to do back to back hm’s, either. You might hold back on the first one, so you’ll have something left on the 2nd. Or you could go all out on the first and not have a great day on the 2nd because your muscles haven’t fully recovered. We are gearing up for spring soccer as well. Enter the mommy guilt as there is one more thing I’m missing while doing my long Saturday morning runs….
